How to do a split stitch ✨ — Learn basic embroidery stitches 6/20. 🧵🪡 1. Bring the needle up through the fabric at your starting point. 2. Make your first stitch by inserting the needle back down a short distance away (about 3–5 mm), forming a straight stitch. 3. Now split the stitch: Bring the needle up again through the center of the stitch you just made. Pierce the thread itself—not beside it—so the needle comes up through the middle of the strand. 4. Pull the thread through gently until the stitch lies flat against the fabric. 5. Repeat the process: Insert the needle forward to make another short stitch, then bring it up through the center of that new stitch. 6. Continue stitching along your desired line, keeping your stitch length consistent and your tension even.
