Wondering how to ski erg well? Try out these 3 suggestions to improve your technique. #hyrox #hyroxcoach #hyroxtraining #skierg

Your SkiErg can make or break your race! Here’s how to turn it into an advantage 👇 – Use your bodyweight + lats, not just arms and legs. ❗️Think drive down, not pull down❗️ – Find your sweet spot: Damper setting 4–6 for most athletes – Master the catch. The better you understand the machine, the more efficient (and faster) you’ll be👊🏽 Work smarter, not harder. Efficiency wins races. 🏁 #hyrox #skierg #tips #smarternotharder

CHALLENGE TIME 💪🏻 Set the Ski Ergo to a 30sec countdown and see how far you can ski. On Friday I managed to get 176 metres. See if you can beat that. Take a photo of your results and TAG me! #fitnesschallenge #cardioworkout

Ski Erg technique 🤌🏻 With the rise of Hyrox and how much you guys loved my row erg form, here is the one for the ski! Similar to the row, form is everything and can improve your pace immensely if doing it right. 1️⃣ Handle. - Place palms on the thicker part of the handle. Sounds silly but I’ve come across a lot of people who don’t know this 💭 2️⃣ Reach tall each stroke. - The taller you can get, the more you will get out of each stroke. - Make sure to keep your core and lats engaged as you reach up. Reach with your hands but don’t extend your shoulders. - Go onto to tip toes to get that extra reach. 3️⃣ Flare Elbows. - Doing this will make you use your lats as well as your triceps, generating more power and fatiguing less quickly. - If your elbows are narrow, you’ll predominantly be recruiting Tricep and won’t be as strong. 4️⃣ Handles out in front. - This is mainly for when you are trying to generate power and move quick. If going for slower, longer periods of time, you might use the flick technique to rest more each stroke. - Keeping the handle out in front will keep your stroke rate high and accumulate more metres quicker. The extra flick at the end doesn’t spin the fan so you won’t gain any more power. 5️⃣ Handles straight up & down. - I’ve seen a lot of around the world techniques and no, it is not easier and is not more efficient. Keep it straight up, straight down. 6️⃣ Hips. - Although not in the video, I do need to touch on it. Make sure you aren’t squatting each rep, this will burn your quads. - The ski is primarily a hip hinge movement. Use your whole body for each stroke. Hopefully this helped and if you’re looking to start incorporating some conditioning style sessions into your training split, my HYBRID programs have you covered @movewithus . 🎿 Let’s talk Ski Erg tekkers! There’s always debate about the “right” stroke….but the data from elite cross-country skiers says it loud and clear 👇🏼 Most of your power comes from the top part of the stroke, that initial hinge and pull. The force curve drops off fast, so spending ages at the bottom is just wasted effort. Think of it like spinning a basketball on your finger — you need quick, snappy spins to keep it going, not slow, heavy swipes. Same deal on the Ski Erg: shorter, sharper strokes keep the flywheel alive and your pace smooth. The science-backed sweet spot: 40–50 strokes per minute • Stronger athletes: lower end (more force per stroke) • Smaller athletes: higher end (keep rhythm without redlining) We want to be able to get back on top of the handles quickly with short, sharp strokes to keep the fan spinning (as seen in the second part of the clip). Rather than reaching super high and pulling all the way down to my knees. At the end of the day, efficiency always wins. Save this & start moving smarter 😉🤌🏻 #skierg #ergtechnique #hybridathlete #conditioningcoach #strengthandconditioning #enginebuilding #hyroxtraining #erglife #performancecoach #hyrox

If you want to improve your Ski Erg for HYROX, it’s not just about working harder. It’s about being more efficient. One of the most common faults I see? Chasing a long stroke. You can create the most force at the start of the stroke. So when you go too long, you’re spending time and energy in a part of the movement that gives you less return. So think: Hit the top hard and get back up quickly.

The SkiErg Sprints are fast approaching. 1000m will be a tough push for those 3-5 minutes you’re putting in. Using your large muscle groups will help preserve your muscles for that last 100m push. Keep that handle path direct on the drive and the recovery. Use ErgData and upload your fastest 1000 meter effort November 9-12. #Concept2 #SkiErg #C2Challenge

How I Ski effectively 🤫 ⚙️ Leverage your levers - elbows, hips, shoulders. ⛓️ Work close to the body - where we are strongest. 🛞 Work with the machine, not against it. ⚖️ Let your gravity and body weight generate force! 🔥 Get to work™ #skierg #concept2 #ski #hyrox #hyroxtraining #crossfittraining

🚨 Ski Erg Tips: Master Your Technique! 🚨 Common mistakes we see: ❌ Dumping your chest low and sticking your hips up high. ❌ Pulling down with those big, exaggerated arm circles. Here’s how to fix it: ✅ Stand an arm’s length away from the machine. ✅ Hinge at the hips, don’t squat! 🍑 ✅ Pull fast but recover slowly. ✅ Engage your lats 💪 and core 🔥. ✅ Move in a straight line—down and up! ✅ Finish with handles at knee level. 👌 Refine your form, save energy, and ski your way to better results! #skierg

Most hinge movements the opening is the drive on the ski erg the closing is how you drive. Folding and pulling down is not the same as using a powerful hinge to drive the erg.
