Here’s exactly how we achieved independent sleep, from start to finish. Ferber isn’t the only method out there - there are so many, with different levels of intervention & comforting. No judgement here, ask away (or DM, whatever you’d like). I have done this process for all of my girls at 3 months old and they became the BEST sleepers and still are at 4 and 2! Depending on the baby you can do this very gradually with just one nap a day over the course of a few weeks, or you can do it all at once like I am (mostly doing) with my 3rd baby because she is a naturally good sleeper vs my first 2 who were not. 🥱 Sleep training your toddler IS NOT that hard… Odds are if your kid is not sleeping well youre probably thinking “eventually they’ll just get better” but nope! Studies show it’s best to have them learn to sleep on their own and some kids don’t sleep as good as others. There’s a lot of great sleep methods out there, and we try them all, but personally — THE CHAIR METHOD worked beautifully! Months have gone by and she’s sleeping for 10-12hrs, all night! This won’t work for everybody, if you tried something else, leave a comment below to help out your fellow parent 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 Stay strong humans. . . #sleeptraining #toddlerhacks #sleeptips #parentinghacks #parents

I quickly realized after becoming a mom that just because something works for me doesn’t mean it will work for someone else and vice versa. This journey is all about figuring out what works best for you and your family. For us, sleep was a huge priority especially for me to be able to show up as the best mom I can be. So getting both kids to sleep through the night was a big deal. This is the sleep training method we used and truly swear by. #sleeptraining #momadvice #momsofig #momtok #babysleep

HERE'S WHAT I DIDN'T KNOW ⬇️ ‼️To sleep train well, we have to focus on FULLY independent sleep! I was only going halfway there. I was putting my baby down semi awake, and then was trying to help her settle during sleep training check ins. She just cried so much for three nights in a row, I quit! Here's what I had missed: 1️⃣ Drowsy-free sleep routines, with the bedtime feeding being a first step (turns out drowsy nursing before bed is a recipe for a sleep training disaster!) 2️⃣ Mindset around sleep training check ins. We aren't there to help make sleep easier or quicker for babies. Our voice/touch is to reassure them, and model that calm, loving energy. (I was trying desperately to stop the crying each time I checked in, I was staying too long and creating WAY more upset). 😴 Once I understood this my sleep training plan WORKED, and my baby learned to sleep through the night in THREE DAYS. She slept, I slept, and we were BOTH so much happier. My days were more peaceful, and I enjoyed being a mom. This was so life-changing, it led to a huge career shift for me. Now as a Pediatric Sleep Consultant, I have helped 1000s of parents do this too! I KNOW how to sleep train effectively, and easily. 🚫 Don’t Do These Things When Your Baby Wakes Up at Night! Small changes = better sleep for both baby & you 💕 1. 💡 Turning on bright lights Harsh lights can confuse your baby’s body clock. Use a dim nightlight 🌙 to keep the vibe calm. 2. 🔊 Talking too loudly or too much Even a whisper can be stimulating. Keep it quiet 🤫 so your baby doesn’t fully wake up. 3. 📱 Using your phone (even for a second!) That screen glow can catch your baby’s attention fast. Avoid screens completely during night wake-ups. 4. 🧷 Changing diapers unnecessarily Unless it’s a poop 💩 or a big leak, skip it. Too much fuss makes it feel like playtime. 5. 🍼 Feeding right away without checking Sometimes they just want comfort, not milk. Pause and watch, they might settle with a cuddle 🤍. 6. 🏃♀️ Rushing in immediately Give it a few seconds. They could be in a light sleep and may drift off again 😴. 7. 🙋♀️ Picking them up too quickly Try patting, shushing, or placing your hand gently on their chest while they’re still lying down 🤲. 8. 🔁 Relying on the same soothing method every time Rocking or feeding every wake-up creates habits. Mix it up to help them self-settle 💤. 9. 😩 Getting overwhelmed or anxious Your baby picks up on your emotions. Take a breath 🌬️. You’ve got this, even on 2 hours of sleep. 10. 😴 Skipping your own rest Prioritize your sleep when possible. Nap, share duties, and take care of you too 💕. ✨ Middle of the night wakeups are hard but how you respond matters. I am NOT saying that a modified cry it out method is a MUST but some babies just do not respond well to a gentle sleep training method… Most gentle sleep training methods end up taking 6 weeks-6 months on average and over the course of that long period of time, baby may resist the changes and approaches MORE often than just doing a more accelerated approach where you do it once for a couple days and only have to revisit it with any possible regressions! For a gentle sleep training method we really focus on making very SLIGHT changes to our baby’s sleep routine SLOWLY overtime. So when we change their sleep routine baby may have a few days of adjusting every time which is why I find that babies who end up doing a modified cry it out or a GENTLE CRY IT OUT method, cry LESS!! 👀 What are your thoughts?! 💭 I’d love to hear your experiences with gentle sleep training! #gentlesleeptraining #sleeptraininghelp #sleepconsultant
