HARIO V60 // our versions of “no fuss” might differ but this is my no fuss every day coffee brewer and recipe. A few notes: - Brewer recipes should be treated as starting points. Your mileage and variables will vary and be highly dependent on what type of coffee you’re using. No two coffees are exactly the same. - I brew with pretty hot water so if you’re making medium-darker coffees, I suggest lowering the water temp by a few degrees. - There’s nothing particularly special about this recipe. It’s pretty basic, all things considered. But that’s the beauty and versatility of it. - Coffee is typically brewed and tastes best within a ratio range of 1:14 to 1:17. 1:16 or 1:15.5 is usually a really good starting point when brewing a new coffee. - I suggest brewing with filtered or remineralized water (for coffee). I’m adding minerals post-brew with @apaxlab.

How to make a good, slow, pour-over coffee: What you’ll need (I’ll put a Shop My link in bio): •Chemex or Hario V60 •A kitchen scale •An electric or traditional gooseneck kettle •Whole bean coffee (today I used some from @onyxcoffeelab) •Coffee grinder (preferably a burr grinder—I use a Baratza Encore). Can be manual or electric. A setup like this will last you years and will actually save you money in the long run. Step 1: heat your water to around 207° F (97.2°C) Step 2: While the water is heating, measure out 25 grams of coffee. I use a 1:14.4 ratio, which means for every gram of coffee, there is 14.4ml of water. Step 3: Grind the coffee to a medium-coarse texture. Almost like sea-salt. You can refine this to taste: if it is too bitter, lean toward a coarser grind. If it’s too acidic and weak, make the grind size a little finer. Step 4: Rinse the filter and pour out the water in the bottom. Step 5: Add coffee to Chemex or V60 Step 6: 60ml (or gram) bloom to fully coat the grounds and release the gasses. Wait 45s or until the water has run through the grounds before starting first pour. Step 7: 3x100ml pours separated by 60-75 seconds or if you don’t time it, just wait until the coffee runs through the grounds fully. Step 8: Toss the filter in the trash or use the old coffee for your garden/houseplants and then enjoy your cup of slow morning coffee.
