Here are 3 tips on how to improve the taste of your pour over / hand drip coffee! 1. Increase your coffee bean amount If you’re used to using less than 20g of coffee for your pour overs, try to double it and see how it tastes. And when you increase it, don’t maintain the ratio. Keep the resulting number the same. And of course, it may take longer to make the coffee, because of the sheer volume of coffee. 2. Slow down your pouring (increase the number of pulses total) There’s no need to stick to a certain time period. Of course, time does affect the bitterness, increases the chance of over extraction if you’re not careful enough, and also caffeine. But I realized that instead of adding water all the way through in 3-4 pours, spreading it out and giving the water some time to seep into the grinds and fully take out the coffee produces some really good coffee in pour overs. 3. Extract less coffee For example, if you have normally use 20 grams of coffee and you usually do a 1 to 16 ratio instead of doing that for 16, try to decrease the ratio by increasing and also increasing the amount of coffee that you’re using in your coffee that you’re using in your brewing recipe. Some of these may seem bizarre, but trust me on this. These are key methods to getting closer to the way I make my hand drip ^^ Anyway, let me know if you test any of these out and let me know your thoughts! And I know I’m slightly late, but happy mid-autumn festival day/weekend everyone :) 핸드드립/푸어오버 커피를 더 맛있게 하는 3가지 방법! 1. 사용하는 원두 양 올리기 평소에 20g 이하로 커피를 사용을 했다면, 2x 로 올리고 한 번 맛을 보세요. 그리고 양을 올려도, 사용하시는 비율을 같이 맞게 올리지 마세요. 20g을 사용했을 때의 물을 그래도 두고, 커피만 올리세요. 추출 시간에 변동도 생길 수도 있어요. 2. 더 느린 추출 (pulsing을 더 많이) 언제나 추출은 시간을 무조건 같아야 할 필요는 없어요. 물론, 시간이 길어지면 쓴맛이 더 나오고, 조심하지 않으면 과다 추출이 될 수 있고, 그리고 카페인도 많이 나오죠. 하지만, pulsing을 3-4번으로 끝나는 것이 아니라, 천천히, 더 많은 시간을 투자를 해서 물이 충분히 커피의 좋은 맛을 추출할 수 있게 하면, 더 맛있는 커피가 만들어지더라고요. 3. 커피를 덜 추출해 보기 예를 들면, 평소에 20g 커피 원두를 사용을 하고 1:16 비율로 추출을 하셨다면, 16보다 더 작은 숫자로 내려보세요. 커피 원두 양도 같이 늘려보시는 것도 재밌을 거에요. 제가 말씀드리는 팁이 좀 이상할 수도 있지만, 한 번 믿어보고 해보세요. 저의 핸드드립 방식에 더 가까운 방식이에요. 팁 중에 하나라도 해보시면 어떤 결과가 나오는지 알려주세요! 그리고 조금 늦었지만, 해피 추석 주말을 보내시고 계시길 바랍니다 ^^ . . #coffeetips #handdrip #pourover
