100 days sober today ❤️‍🩹🎉 This is the longest I’ve gone without drinking since I was 14, shocking I know. Growing up in a pub as a publicans daughter and living with undiagnosed ADHD was… a chaotic mix. What started as “fun” quickly became self-medicating, numbing overwhelm, and chasing a different state of mind. In my late teens through to my 30s, drink and drugs took over more than most people realised. My mental health was constantly in the bin. Once I started, I couldn’t stop, I would hit the self destruct button more often than I’d like then be so low and sick days and days after. It was so dark and very chaotic, I’ve always carried so much shame. Getting my ADHD diagnosis this year was a real turning point. It helped me finally understand what was going on in my mind, why I coped the way I did, why I couldn’t be that person who “just has one”… and why alcohol can’t have a place in the life I’m building. 🧱 It hasn’t been easy I’ve done hypnotherapy, therapy, AA, and @hannahameliaviney @class_a_people “How I Got Sober” pack which all helped. I also had to change my patterns, environment and make some sacrifices. Because nothing changes if nothing changes. 🫶🏼❤️‍🩹 But today I’m emotional because I know I’ve actually done it.
