Anxiety is ENERGY⚡️Trying to figure out why you feel anxious

Anxiety is ENERGY⚡️Trying to figure out why you feel anxious, or talk yourself into calming down will never release its charge. You know this though, I bet you’ve tried like we all do! In fact, these approaches often agitate us even more because fighting it our solving it doesn’t actually address the root of anxiety as an energy. Energy wants to move not be reasoned with or intellectualized away. Instead we need to give our bodies an outlet to experience and express the built up energy and stress hormones and expel itself. Here are 3 great body-based practices to ease out of the sympathetic nervous system’s fight/flight mobilization response. 1️⃣Spinal Twisting 2️⃣Full body Bouncing 3️⃣Butterfly Tapping These are safe, contained ways to move through this built up energy, break it up, and discharge its stuck intensity, naturally allowing you to settle down a bit. These practices will naturally calm the nervous system bringing you back into the present moment. After you practice, notice how you feel. You might only feel slightly better, maybe only 1%, but that’s actually all it takes, one step at a time. We cannot expect to go from chronic dysregulation to a zen buddha over night! These are also great practices to do before an Internal Family Systems parts work session if you are coming into a session particularly overwhelmed and flooded with anxiety. After practicing, you’ve created enough space and distinction between you and the emotion so that you can then begin to approach the the part of you carrying the anxiety and ask it what it wants to tell you. If you’re interested in learning more about my IFS somatic parts work work, DM me and we can set up a free discovery call to get to know one another 🌞🍃 #somatichealing #somaticmovement #somaticexperiencing #somatics #somaticpartswork #partswork #ifs #intuitivemovement #anxietytips #anxietysupport #healinganxiety #anxietyrelief #nervoussystemhealing #ifstherapy #internalfamilysystems #anxietyrelief #anxietyrecovery #selfcompassion #innerjourney #innerwork

Somatic exercises like these can be very useful in helping to release trauma and stress from the body. Thank you yogaquotesforlife - “Letting go is a muscle we can strengthen and condition, and we need exercises to regulate the nervous system that support the energetics of emotions. Reel by @amaratmacoaching These three exercises are simple and necessary to have for our emotional fitness. They are easy and effective. I learnt these movements yesterday from my somatic bodywork practitioner, Claire Graziano @in_well_being_somatictherapies . After an amazing session of fascial release, she showed me some simple somatic movements to help mobilize stuck sympathetic nervous system energy. (Louise here btw, I’m the social media manager for Primal Trust in case you wondered who the heck is appearing on the PT account! 😆) When we feel anxiety, worry, or fear we often say we feel “jittery”. It can be really hard to know where to go with these feelings as you just want to escape them! And there’s a clue in that… because on the somatic level of our body, we want to run. It’s the “flight” part of the fight/flight response. If you have a chronic illness or fatigue, it’s not easy to get up and go for a run or find another big way to move, but this technique really helps. The bilateral movement acts out the “running” response that our body wants us to do, but in a gentler way. The second movement is bouncing your feet and legs up and down. This helps to release fight energy, which is great when you feel angry, frustrated, or like your boundaries have been crossed. We really need healthy ways to move this energy through our body so it doesn’t settle and start creating symptoms and pain. You will most likely be feeling either anxious or angry, so performing one or the other of these is the norm. Finishing with a few deep breaths will help release a nice boost of oxytocin into your system, relaxes your muscles and helps to self-soothe after a period of stress. Give it a go and let us know if you found this helpful! #primaltrust #somatics #somaticmovement #somatictherapy #somaticbodywork #fascialrelease #fightflightfreeze #fightflight #anxietyrelief #tensionrelease #stressmanagement #selfregulation #selfregulationskills #selfregulate #nervoussystem #nervoussystemregulation #nervoussystemhealing

It’s hard not to feel it… the situation right now is scary. And even if you are safe…the tight chest, clenched jaw, restless legs, random wave of tension for no reason, aren’t just random tics. It’s somatic anxiety (when stress shows up as physical symptoms instead of just racing thoughts) And let’s be honest. You can’t always journal your way out of that. Sometimes your nervous system doesn’t need more thinking. It needs movements that help discharge stored stress, regulate the nervous system, and shift you out of fight-or-flight mode. Save this for the next time and send this to a loved one <3 {somatic anxiety, physical anxiety symptoms, nervous system regulation, anxiety relief techniques, stress release exercises, trauma-informed movement, vagus nerve stimulation, fight or flight response, anxiety in the body, self regulation tools, calming the nervous system, somatic healing, mind body connection, stress management tools, yoga} #somatichealing #anxietyrelief #nervoussystemregulation #mentalhealthtools #mindbodyconnection

Shaking is a technique you can try to help the body recover. Just look at animals! Regulating our nervous systems can help us improve our focus, relaxation, take action and not overthink things. Many people won’t use this technique cuz they feel funny but if I can post this video to thousands of strangers than you can close your bedroom and do some solo shaking for three min 🤣🫶 Sometimes it‘a best to just drop INTO our bodies rather than endlessly spinning the wheels in our head. Put on your favorite track on loud, use your knees and shoulders a lot and just shake. Try letting out audible sighs to support release if that feels good for you. It’s that simple! Did you try it? Let me know in the comments where I’ve got some other tips for ya!

Anger needs to be released from both the mind and the body. Somatic dance and Movement helps your nervous system discharge what words can’t. Shake it out. Push it out. Sound it out. This is regulation, not aggression. #somaticdance #somaticmovement #releaseanger #moveyourbodyeveryday

When we are unable to regulate our body’s nervous system, our emotions can feel out of control and the overwhelm throws us into states of inaction. We live sympathetic dominant lifestyles, but there are ways to move into states that benefit us. Here are 6 body-based practices you can do to help self regulate your nervous system: 1️⃣ Ecstatic dance - put some good tunes on and dance as if nobody is watching! Spontaneous, joyful movement that helps you notice how your body feels and allows you to let it move in new ways. 2️⃣ Spinal rollouts - a great way to connect mind and body, freeing tension in the spine. Lack of grounding can throw us off balance, so moving the body while keeping the feet firmly grounded can help bring us back. 3️⃣ Shake it out - release excess energy produced from our stress responses by shaking, allowing the system to settle. 4️⃣ Confidence stance - when feeling nervous/anxious about something you need to do, try this power stance. Standing has the added benefit of grounding, as you come back to yourself, allows feelings of safety and inner strength to emerge. Arms to the sky remind us we can take up space. 5️⃣ Brush it off - this is a self soothing technique using touch, teaching us to work with our body (so often we end up resenting our body and working against it) and encouraging proprioception. 6️⃣ Rinse it out - a way to promote up regulation combining breath and movement to release stress and increase energy. Have you given these a try? Which do you enjoy most? 👇 (right now my favourite is ecstatic dance!) • • • #somatictherapy #selfhealing #bodybasedhealing #listentoyourbody #holisticwellbeing #mentalhealthsupport #nervoussystemregulation #selfregulationtools #movementismedicine #somatichealing #moveyourbodychangeyourmind #emotionalwellness #ecstaticdance #shakeitout #mindfulnesspractice #connect2earth #costaricapuravida
