Somatic exercises like these can be very useful in helping to release trauma and stress from the body. Thank you yogaquotesforlife - “Letting go is a muscle we can strengthen and condition, and we need exercises to regulate the nervous system that support the energetics of emotions. Reel by @amaratmacoaching These three exercises are simple and necessary to have for our emotional fitness. They are easy and effective. They shift the imprints in the nervous system that seeks to hold on and afraid of change while also offering a template for the fresh and new start that comes with effective letting go.” #lettinggo #emotions #emotional #anger #fear #sad #grief #anxiety #breath #inspiration #hope #love #selflove #selfcare #release #yogadailypractice This reel is intended as educational content, please seek out appropriate therapeutic relationships as needed.

Somatic: from the Greek soma, meaning “the living body.” It starts inside the body and lets sensation lead.

Anger needs to be released from both the mind and the body. Somatic dance and Movement helps your nervous system discharge what words can’t. Shake it out. Push it out. Sound it out. This is regulation, not aggression. #somaticdance #somaticmovement #releaseanger #moveyourbodyeveryday

An unexpected moment turned into pure magic ✨ I decided to follow the somatic dance live with @sahdsimone and wow… what a boost of energy. Rediscovering my body, letting it move freely, and just feeling every beat. No choreography. Just presence, breath, and flow. #SomaticDance #FreeMovement #EmbodiedLiving #DanceYourselfAlive #IGReel

It’s hard not to feel it… the situation right now is scary. And even if you are safe…the tight chest, clenched jaw, restless legs, random wave of tension for no reason, aren’t just random tics. It’s somatic anxiety (when stress shows up as physical symptoms instead of just racing thoughts) And let’s be honest. You can’t always journal your way out of that. Sometimes your nervous system doesn’t need more thinking. It needs movements that help discharge stored stress, regulate the nervous system, and shift you out of fight-or-flight mode. Save this for the next time and send this to a loved one <3 {somatic anxiety, physical anxiety symptoms, nervous system regulation, anxiety relief techniques, stress release exercises, trauma-informed movement, vagus nerve stimulation, fight or flight response, anxiety in the body, self regulation tools, calming the nervous system, somatic healing, mind body connection, stress management tools, yoga} #somatichealing #anxietyrelief #nervoussystemregulation #mentalhealthtools #mindbodyconnection

I learnt these movements yesterday from my somatic bodywork practitioner, Claire Graziano @in_well_being_somatictherapies . After an amazing session of fascial release, she showed me some simple somatic movements to help mobilize stuck sympathetic nervous system energy. (Louise here btw, I’m the social media manager for Primal Trust in case you wondered who the heck is appearing on the PT account! 😆) When we feel anxiety, worry, or fear we often say we feel “jittery”. It can be really hard to know where to go with these feelings as you just want to escape them! And there’s a clue in that… because on the somatic level of our body, we want to run. It’s the “flight” part of the fight/flight response. If you have a chronic illness or fatigue, it’s not easy to get up and go for a run or find another big way to move, but this technique really helps. The bilateral movement acts out the “running” response that our body wants us to do, but in a gentler way. The second movement is bouncing your feet and legs up and down. This helps to release fight energy, which is great when you feel angry, frustrated, or like your boundaries have been crossed. We really need healthy ways to move this energy through our body so it doesn’t settle and start creating symptoms and pain. You will most likely be feeling either anxious or angry, so performing one or the other of these is the norm. Finishing with a few deep breaths will help release a nice boost of oxytocin into your system, relaxes your muscles and helps to self-soothe after a period of stress. ✨ Shake Your Groove Thing✨ Did you know that dancing and shaking can be a powerful tool for emotional release? Just like children naturally move through their emotions, we adults have the ability to tap into the gift of somatic release rituals. Soma refers to the body free from the mind. The body is often where we store stress, emotions, tension and built-up energy. Somatic release involves moving this energy intentionally, through dancing, shaking, tapping and body movement. 🪩 Tips to try somatic release for stress relief: 1. 🎶 Create a playlist of your favourite music and find a space where you can dance freely. Release any self-consciousness and allow your body to move in ways that feel natural and nourishing to you. 2. 🦓 Embrace the practice of shaking! Just like animals shake off stress, shaking is a fantastic technique to discharge tension and create space for positive energy to flow, like endorphins. These are the happy feel good hormone we create from moving our body. 3. 👯♀️ Release the pressure of perfection. It’s not about the precise steps, it’s about the freedom and release that movement brings. Give yourself permission to dance like nobody’s watching, allowing your inner child to guide you. Let the music be your guide as you tune into areas where you may be holding tension in your body. Move into those spaces and shake off your worries. Dance and shake your groove thing, and feel the energy of joy replacing any stress! If you’re in need of a playlist, check out my Spotify link in my bio. If you need help to find your flow, or want to learn more about these practices, reach out for support! #ShakeYourGrooveThing #SomaticRelease #DanceYourStressAway #womenscoach #dancetherapy 🪩🪩🪩🪩🪩

Morning Lymph Release 🌿💧 Did you know? The lymphatic system doesn’t have its own pump like the heart. It relies on movement, muscle contractions, breathing, and gentle bouncing to keep lymph fluid circulating. ✨ Simple rhythmic movements can help: • Stimulate lymph flow 💧 • Reduce fluid retention • Support immune function 🛡️ • Improve circulation ❤️ This kind of routine can also open up the body, energise you, improve mobility and posture, and support the body’s natural detox processes. Just 10–15 minutes of bouncing, marching, arm swings, and hip movements can wake up the system and get everything flowing. ⏰ Tip: Do it in the morning or earlier in the day — it can be so energising that doing it late evening might make it harder to fall asleep. Put on some music 🎶, move your body, bounce lightly, swing your arms, breathe deeply, and enjoy the flow. lymphatic drainage movement, lymph flow exercises, fascia release movement, morning body activation, gentle detox movement, lymphatic system activation, mobility and posture routine, somatic movement, circulation boosting exercises, daily body reset routine #lymphflow #fasciarelease #morningmovement #lymphatichealth #bodyreset

Ever tried letting your body take the lead-without judgment, without control? 🥁Rhythm is the oldest form of healing. Before words, before therapy, before breathwork, there was movement. Every culture has used dance and rhythm to release, connect, and transform. ⚡️Your body syncs before your mind does. When you move to rhythm, your nervous system attunes to the beat, creating regulation before your mind even realizes what’s happening. ✨Bouncing shakes off stored tension. The body holds onto stress in micro-contractions. Bouncing and rhythmic movement unlock these, creating a full-body reset without forcing relaxation. 🎶Music bypasses resistance. Sound and movement work together to shift stuck energy. Your mind may resist stillness, but it can’t help but move when the right rhythm hits. 💫True freedom is found in movement, not thought. You can’t think your way into feeling free. But when you surrender to rhythm, bounce, shake, and let go, freedom finds you. 💃 Dancing isn’t about performance, it’s about liberation. When you dance for yourself, without judgment, without inhibition, you unlock a level of freedom that no amount of thinking, therapy, or self-improvement can give you. 💃🕺🏼 . . . . . . #freeyourmind #dancelikenooneiswatching #somatichealing
