Yesterday, SpaceX successfully completed a full-duration, full-thrust static fire of the 33-engine Super Heavy V3 booster. All Raptor engines fired at maximum power for the planned burn, generating massive shockwaves and demonstrating the booster’s structural strength and roughly 74–76 meganewtons of thrust (16–17 million pounds). The successful test marks a major milestone for the next-generation Starship system and moves SpaceX closer to the next integrated flight test. Starship’s tenth flight test lifted off on August 26, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. CT from Starbase, Texas, marking a major step in developing the world’s first fully reusable launch vehicle. Every key objective was met, providing critical data to refine designs of the next-generation Starship and Super Heavy. Super Heavy successfully lifted off with all 33 Raptor engines, followed by a hot-staging maneuver as Starship’s six engines ignited to separate and continue to space. The booster completed a boostback burn, initiated its landing burn with an intentional engine cutoff, hovered briefly above the water, and splashed down as planned. Starship achieved its suborbital trajectory, deployed eight Starlink simulators in its first payload demonstration, and performed the second ever in-space Raptor relight, proving a key capability for future missions. During reentry, the vehicle’s heatshield and structure were tested under extreme conditions before it executed a landing flip, burn, and soft splashdown in the Indian Ocean.
