Friday’s Quest was 🔥! We had around 20 Killer Whales and they were partying it up. The CA138s were there, along with CA137 “Hercules”, quite a few of the CA122 clan, the CA27Es and others! The calves in particular were in a spunky mood giving us several breaches and lots of play with the Zodiac. Finally, some HUMPBACKS charged in to crash the party. Yes, off California from what we observe the Humpbacks are not prey for Killer Whales but rather bullies to them. So the Humpbacks did not like it that the Killer Whales were having fun in their neighborhood and tried to kick them out. Our next trip is tomorrow, Monday! Two spots left as of this writing. How time flies! Little Mwana celebrated her third birthday last Thursday. (Pictured: Spunky Mwana as a tiny newborn, then sedate Mwana today) We may have missed posting on her actual day, but the event certainly didn’t go uncelebrated! As Umani Head Keeper Philip reported: The 12th was a very big and important day for the Umani orphans. The first-born daughter of the Umani orphans, Mwana, celebrated her third birthday. The Keepers came out in the morning with a happy birthday song for Mwana, singing, “Happy birthday, happy birthday Mwana, happy birthday dear Mwana, and a happy birthday to you.” After singing, the Keepers went to the store for pellets and lucerne to make Mwana happy on her special day, together with her mother Murera. They were joined by all the elephants of Umani. In the evening, the celebrations did not end. Back at the stockades, the Keepers brought more pellets for Mwana and her mother so they could continue celebrating as a family. — We are feeling a bit nostalgic, seeing Mwana and celebrating how far she’s come! Y’all know this bad food didn’t let me be great. I ate 3 bites and couldn’t do it but my husbae ate his UP! We came to Jacksonville for a quick two days to see Angelo’s mom for Mother’s Day. She is 90. Still lives alone, spunky and living her best life. Angelo was coming alone because I had prior engagements when I was reminded of how MY FAMILY comes first. I cancelled and came with him. I’m so glad I did. I use to would put ministry before everything. Not in this new chapter. So thankful God gives us do overs to do better. First day was FUN! 🤩he will never let me live down “imma a boss” with my shirt in my pants EVER 🤣
