St Andrew the First-Called was one of the twelve apostles and the brother of Saint Peter, a fisher from Bethsaida who followed Jesus at His call. ☦️ He brought the Gospel to distant lands, converting many to Orthodoxy. Saint Andrew the First Called was martyred by order of the Roman proconsul Aegeates, who condemned him to crucifixion for preaching Christ around the year 60 AD in Patras, Greece, where he was crucified for his faith and gave his life preaching Christ. The Holy Apostle left us many relics, the most precious ones being presented in this video. His Holy skull is preserved on Mount Athos, kept with reverence in the great church of Saint Andrew, where pilgrims come to venerate the relic and feel a tangible closeness to the apostle who firstly followed Christ. Many wonders were made through this precious and holy relic Saint Andrew left to us as a gift. We also have the Holy X-shaped Cross on which the Apostle was crucified. In Patras, where Saint Andrew was martyred, the precious relic of the True Cross is kept and venerated. Together with other of his relics, the Holy Cross of Saint Andrew stands as a tall witness to his love for Christ and his joyful acceptance of the path that led him to eternal life. Holy and first-called of the Apostles, Saintly Father Andrew, pray for us sinners! ☦️ 🙏 If this video helped you, you can support me or check out books and prayer items in the link in my bio. #orthodox #christian #relics #church standrew

On the 19th of August, we celebrate the Memory of the Holy and Great Martyr ANDREW STRATELATES and his 2,593 companions Saint Andrew, a caption of the Imperial army was stationed on the eastern front of the Empire in the time of Emperor Maximianus Galerius. Although he had not yet received Holy Baptism, he shone like a rose among thorns both by his piety and his valour. Antiochus, the general, was known for his cruelty towards the Christians, and remembered Andrew when confronting a sudden incursion by the Persians, and put him at the head of a cohort. At the moment of engaging in battle, Andrew told his men to put their trust in Christ. Then invoking the Name of Christ with one voice, they overthrew the enemy’s ranks and drove them across the frontier. Victorious, all the men went to be converted, but they were denounced to Antiochus as Christians. Instead of giving them the reward they had earned, he summoned them to a tribunal. He reminded them of the Christians whom he had already killed, and Andrew replied that these martyrs would have trophies in the Kingdom of Christ. Employing a cruel irony, Antiochus ordered that the Saint be laid on a bed of red-hot bronze. and some of the soldiers have their hands nailed to beams. 🎣 The First-Called Apostle and Fisher of Souls. November 30th A humble fisherman turned fearless disciple, St. Andrew was the first to follow Christ and spent his life bringing others to Him. #asaintaday ——— More about St. Andrew the Apostle: Born in Bethsaida on the Sea of Galilee, Andrew was a fisherman and the brother of St. Peter. According to the Gospel of John, he was originally a disciple of John the Baptist, but upon hearing John proclaim Jesus as the “Lamb of God,” Andrew immediately followed Christ—earning the title “Protokletos,” or the First-Called. After Pentecost, Andrew preached the Gospel across Asia Minor and Greece, where countless conversions were attributed to his zeal and miracles. Tradition holds that he was martyred at Patras, bound—not nailed—to an X-shaped cross, choosing that form out of humility, deeming himself unworthy to die as Christ did. The St. Andrew’s Cross later became a powerful Christian symbol, featured on the flag of Scotland, whose patron he is, and invoked by sailors, fishermen, and all seeking strength in faith. ——— 🙏 May St. Andrew inspire us to follow Christ with courage, to invite others into faith, and to leave behind whatever keeps us from our true calling. ——— Music: Awaken by Alex-Productions | https://onsound.eu/ Music promoted by https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/ Creative Commons CC BY 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ ——— #StAndrew #Apostle #FirstCalled #PatronsaintofScotland #PatronsaintofRussia #FisherofMen #FaithandCourage #dailyinspiration This channel uses human writing and AI-generated images, enhanced and composited by real human graphics and visual-effects artists.
