Stability ball curls- one of my favorite hamstring exercises and a great sub for the leg curl machine if your gym doesn’t have one! Here’s how to make them work best for you🤗 ✅as you curl in, think of engaging your core, squeezing your glutes, and bridging your hips all the way UP, rather then staying low to the ground. Pause at top before controlling the ball back out. ✅if these feel too hard right now, leave the ball where it is and working on just stationary bridges so you can get used to bridging onto an unstable surface. If you desire further modification, work on mastering bridges from the floor and then from a more stable elevated surface (bench, box, etc) first! These are challenging- so take your time and find what works for you! ✅if you want a bigger challenge, try them unilaterally! These are tough- you still want to focus on bridging up AS you curl in on each rep. Questions? No hamstring curl machine? No problem. Grab a stability ball. Lie on your back, place your feet on the ball, lift your hips into a bridge, and curl your heels toward your glutes. This mimics the hamstring curl and lights up the back of your legs. Strong hamstrings support your knees, protect your low back, and improve posture.

The Swiss ball hamstring curl is one of my favorite exercises for strengthening the hamstrings. This exercise is super dynamic, because while you’re mainly targeting the hamstrings, you’re also activating your glutes and core. Unlike many lower body exercises like deadlifts, which focus on hip extension and primarily work the quads, glutes, and hamstrings, the Swiss ball leg curl focuses on knee flexion. The instability of the ball forces you to engage your core to stay balanced, making the movement more reactive and harder to control. If you’re hypermobile, you should integrate this exercise into your weekly routine because it targets smaller stabilizing muscles in your lower body, like the popliteus (behind the knee), your calf muscles, and your thigh muscles. Strengthening these muscles helps stabilize your joints and prevents excessive movement, reducing injury risk. To perform the hamstring curl on a stability ball, lie on your back with your heels resting on top of the ball. Lift your hips off the ground to form a straight line from your shoulders to your feet. Roll the ball towards your glutes by bending your knees (concentric phase), then extend your legs back out (eccentric phase). Keep your core engaged and hips elevated throughout the movement. 💪 . . . . . . . . . . #CPT #personaltrainer #fitness #exercise #fitness #hamstring #hamstringworkout #hamstringworkout #lowerbodyworkout #hypermobility #hEDS #EDS #HSD #hypermobilityspectrumdisorder #stability #swissball #strengthtraining #strength

❌ Stop Making These Leg Curl Mistakes! 1️⃣ Feet Too Far Apart Keep your feet hip-width apart to maximize leverage and hamstring activation. 2️⃣ Pad Set Too High If the pad’s on your lower calves, it’s too high. Adjust it so it sits just above your heel bone (Achilles area) for proper force transfer. 3️⃣ Hands on Your Lap Don’t rest your hands — grab the handles to stay locked in and maintain control. 4️⃣ Torso Leaning Back A reclined torso puts your hamstrings in a shortened position, which isn’t ideal for hypertrophy. Instead, set the backrest so your torso stays upright, placing your hamstrings in a more lengthened position for better growth stimulus. 5️⃣ Butt Lifting Off the Seat If your hips come up, you’re losing power and risking injury. Keep your glutes glued to the pad the entire rep. Size & Shred Training program 👉🏻 deltabolic.com #legcurls

Sometimes it’s fun to play with new pieces of equipment, like an exercise ball! 💪STABILITY BALL SERIES💪 Here is my 5:45 am crew showing off SOME of the movements we perform with stability balls. I like to do something with the ball at least twice a week and sometimes more. This is a skills-based approach to core training and I have found that I get way more engagement out of my athletes with this type of training compared to endless planks, crunches, and twists.
