We love a messy turn ♥️ . . Working with stabilised wood is always guaranteed to be a big mess - this is due to the stabilizing process saturating the wood with resin, which crystallises when cured. The upside is we’re able to do a lot more with the beautiful wood that would otherwise be unusable. The downside is we don’t get those super satisfying curly wood shavings as we’re turning. As these plates have a number of different wood types, with a variety of densities, I removed majority of the material with a bowl gouge and finished with a super sharp negative rake to get a nice smooth, even finish. . .
