Staghorn fern care. Who loves these??? @thehouseplantguru do you have one? I know you love ferns! . . . . . #ohiotropics #staghornfern #staghornferns #fern #ferns #fernsofinstagram #fernlove #fernlover #fernlover

Do you mount your staghorn ferns?! They for sure look great mounted, but I prefer to keep them in a cute planter. It’s a lot easier to water them that way and you avoid any possible water damage on your walls! 🌿 Staghorn Fern (Platycerium bifurcatum) Care Guide 🌿 Want your Staghorn Fern to thrive? Follow these easy care tips 👇 ✨ Light: Bright indirect light (4–7 hrs). Avoid harsh direct sun. 🌡️ Temperature: Keep between 60–80°F (Never below 55°F). 💧 Humidity: Loves high humidity + good airflow. 🚿 Watering: Soak the mount/root ball for 15 minutes. ➡️ Weekly in summer ➡️ Every 10 days in winter 🌱 Feeding: Use water-soluble fertilizer in spring & summer (light feeding). 🪵 Mounting: Grows best on sphagnum moss mounted on wood or basket. 🌿 Fun Fact: The brown patches under fronds are spores – totally normal! ⚠️ Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. Save this guide & grow your Staghorn like a pro! 🌿💚 #StaghornFern #FernCare #IndoorPlants #gardening #garden

What are these fronds? ⬇️ @nastia.saves.plants I’m a plant designer and plant care specialist—stick around 😌 🌿 Sterile fronds on a Platycerium (aka Staghorn fern) aren’t just for show—they’re super important! • Unlike the regular fronds (or just leaves) that grow out and look like antlers, these round, flat ones stay close to the base • Their job is to protect the roots, store moisture, and help the plant attach to surfaces (you might see them growing on a wooden board or on trees without any soil at all!) • They got their name because they don’t produce spores (unlike the regular leaves) If your Platycerium is growing new sterile fronds, that’s a great sign—it means it’s healthy and settling in well 🙌

The staghorn fern is one of my favorite plants to have indoors. Whether you have it in a pot or mounted on a wall, it’s uniqueness and beauty make it a must have. Here are some tips on how to care for it! 💚🌿✨ . . . . #HiltonsGreenHouse #lush #styling #interior #staghornfern #plants #home #plantcare #interiordesign #interiorstyling #plantparenting #interiordecor #homedecor #plantcare #jungle #decor #indoorjungle #mood #plantlover #indoorplantstyling #style #design #greenhouse #plantstyling #interiorinspo #apartmenttherapy #designinspiration #WildatHome

If there’s one thing about me, I’m going to find a way to make watering easier. So now instead of watering it every 1-2 days, I refill the water reservoir once a week and deeply water every other week so it stays damp. Items used: Cork bark- you can also find pieces at your local reptile shops Sphagnum moss Live moss Small nails Monofilament (fishing line) #staghornfern #plantproject

🌿 How to Water Your Staghorn Fern 🌿 Staghorn ferns are stunning, tropical plants that thrive when given the right care. Here’s a quick guide to ensure your mounted beauties stay happy and hydrated: 1️⃣ Regular Watering Routine Summer: Water once a week. Winter: Water every 2–3 weeks. Allow the moss or growing medium to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. 2️⃣ Best Watering Methods Soaking: Remove the fern from its mount and submerge it (face down) in room-temperature water for 10–15 minutes. Let it drip dry before re-mounting. Direct Watering: Slowly pour water over the moss or root ball until fully saturated, ensuring proper drainage. 3️⃣ Humidity Boost Staghorn ferns love humidity! Mist the shield and antler fronds every few days, or place them in a humid environment like a bathroom. Aim for 50–60% humidity or higher. 4️⃣ Avoid Overwatering Signs of overwatering include black spots on the shield fronds or soggy moss. Adjust your watering frequency if you notice these symptoms. 💡 Pro Tip: Use distilled or rainwater to avoid mineral buildup from tap water that can harm your fern. . . #barrina #t5progrowlight #barrinagrowlight #barrinagrowlights #staghornfern #plantcare #houseplants #plantsofinstagram #plantsmakepeoplehappy #myplantaesthetic"

✨ Ever wondered how I water my mounted staghorn ferns? 🌿 Here’s my weekly Platycerium watering routine: I take them down from my grid wall, move them to the spare grid wall in the tub, and give them a good shower — soaking and power washing as needed. After a deep drink, they dry for about 12 hours before going back on display in my plant wall jungle. 🪴✨ 💧 Consistency is key to keeping your Platycerium bifurcatum, Platycerium ridleyi, or any mounted fern thriving indoors. 👉 Do you water your staghorn ferns this way, or do you have a different routine?
