Have you tried all of these methods toward the Standing splits? The standing split is a fantastic goal to actively practice your front split while maintaining the integrity of your hips. Try these methods toward achieving the standing split or improving how strong you are inside the standing or front split posture. • 1️⃣Ballistic/Dynamic Hip Extension: Ballistic stretching feels so amazing to warm up the hips prior to accessing more range of motion by simply tapping into deeper ranges with out the intention of holding it there. Ballistics ultimately fast track your progress and preparation to feel more comfortable with the later methods. • 2️⃣Passive Hip Flexors: getting into passive hip flexor holds are fantastic to counter the more active ballistic stretches to really open the hip up prior to attaining more range. • 3️⃣Active Hamstring Pulses: the hamstrings must be strong in the standing so attempting actively stretch and strengthen them will bring the leg higher while also creating stability and balance for the standing leg. • 4️⃣Lizard Lunge Variations: the lizard is a fantastic intermediate posture to comfortable with prior to the splits. Practicing both active and passive drills will help you deepen your range of motion which in turn will help you feel stronger in the front. • 5️⃣Wall Split Variations: using several wall drills can improve overall hip range but also actively and passive stretch and strengthen the hip flexor and hamstring while using the wall as support for the deeper ranges of motion. • 6️⃣ End Range and Entry: if the standing split is your goal it’s important to check in on your end range position to see progress over as well as actually attempting to enter the standing so that the body adapts the end of any splits training. • Share to a friend who is still on their standing or front splits journey or a friend you think might enjoy! • #splits #frontsplits #ballisticstretching #mobilitytraining #standingsplit #hipstrength

ACTIVE FRONT SPLITS TRAINING This is a routine I use when i'm working on my front splits outside of my practice. It fits in well with Legs Day at the gym. It is all about active flexibility—building strength, control, and usable range in your splits. 1️⃣ Eccentric Slide + Isometric Hold - Slowly lower into your front split using your own body weight. - Move with control—this eccentric phase helps lengthen the tissues under load. - Once you reach your end range (without pain), hold for 30 seconds with active tension. Don’t just sink—engage the hamstrings, quads, glutes, and hip flexors to own the position. 2️⃣ Standing Split Isometric (Antagonist Activation) - Start facing a wall, one leg lifted in front. - First: press the leg into the wall—activating the hamstrings. Ramp up to 90 percent of your pain-free RPE (Rate of Perceived Effort) and hold that for a 5 or 10 count. - Then: pull the leg away from the wall and hold it up with your hands or arms for support. This builds strength through your full range and improves control at end range. ❗Why it matters: These movements build resilience and mobility that translate to asanas, handstands, splits, acrobatics, and daily life.
