Experience the awe-inspiring power of a supernova! 💥 These cosmic explosions mark the dramatic end of a star's life. It's lighting up the universe and creating the building blocks for new stars. #Supernova #CosmicExplosion #Stars #Astronomy #StellarDeath #Space #Universe

All stars will expand, cool and change colour to become a red giant or red supergiant. What happens next depends on how massive the star is. A smaller star, like the Sun, will gradually cool down and stop glowing. During these changes, it will go through the planetary nebula phase and white dwarf phase. After many thousands of millions of years, it will stop glowing and become a black dwarf. A massive star experiences a much more energetic and violent end. It explodes as a supernova. This scatters materials from inside the star across space. This material can be collected in nebulae and form the next generation of stars. After the dust clears, a very dense neutron star is left behind. These spin rapidly and can give off streams of radiation, known as pulsars. If the star is especially massive, it forms a black hole when it explodes. #space #star #neutronstar #blackhole #lifecycle

Chapter: Drift: Andromeda, City of Stars Face-on with a continent of light. Andromeda (M31) fills the frame like a city from the air—golden bulge at center, two grand spiral arms, dark dust lanes biting into the glow. Along the edges, pink H II knots and young blue clusters mark starbirth; a wide star-forming ring (~10 kpc) breathes in clumps. Lanterns of old light—globular clusters—hang in the halo. Faint tidal streams trace past encounters with its companions M32 and M110. Nearest major spiral (~2.5 million ly), M31 is our future dance partner: on course to merge with the Milky Way in ~4 billion years. A city that writes its history in dust and stars—and keeps the lights on. #andromeda #m31 #astronomy #galaxy #spiralgalaxy #astrophotography #cosmos #space #starformation #hii #globularclusters #tidalstreams #m32 #m110 #milkyway #futuremerger #universe #stargazing #science #scicomm #spaceexploration #documentary #learnontiktok
