𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞 — 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐓𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐃𝐨𝐰𝐧 Not all step downs are created equal. Different styles = different gains👇🏼 1️⃣ Patrick Step-Down Heel stays flat on the floor. Great for targeting the lower quads, stabilising the knee, and improving ankle range of motion. 2️⃣ Poliquin Step-Down Heel elevated with assistance. Focuses on quad strength + knee joint support. 3️⃣ Peterson Step-Down The most advanced. Emphasises balance and requires lifting the heel without assistance. 4️⃣ Backwards Step-Down Light toe tap behind you. Fires up glutes, quads, hamstrings and your core for balance. 5️⃣ Lateral Step-Down Step to the side, keeping hips level. Boosts knee and hip stability, plus strengthens hip abductors. 6️⃣ Curtsy Step-Down Add a diagonal reach behind. Glute stretch + next level balance and coordination. Pick the variation that supports your goals OR use them all 🔥 . . #fightingfitmanchester #legday #kneestrength #functionaltraining #mobilitytraining #stepdowns #movementquality

Step Up vs Step Down: sai davvero quale scegliere?

Step Up vs Step Down: sai davvero quale scegliere? Step Up e Step Down non sono esercizi intercambiabili. Up produce forza, Step Down sviluppa controllo. Entrambi gli esercizi sono validi, ma inserirli correttamente in un programma di allenamento è la chiave per ottenere risultati concreti. Se avverti dolore durante questi esercizi, è un chiaro segnale di una disfunzione biomeccanica. STEP UP vs. STEP DOWN; why do we care!? 👇 first, save this to refer back to and share with your gym partner 👯‍♀️ ⬆️ a step up is more of a power oriented movement that starts at the bottom and moves to a standing position it’s faster, requires a big push through the foot and achieves full hip extension at the top this is important to train for force production through mainly a single leg you can load this one heavier as its concentric action demands less control and more load ⬇️ a step down is going to be more force absorption this means tempo matters!!! you think about going as slow as you can to build and maintain tension throughout this move starts at the top standing while you allow one leg to slowly reach back for the ground the goal is to barely tap the ground (IF you can even reach the ground) and use still the leg that is on the step to push yourself back up this one is done with less additional load than a step up and requires the person performing to movement to really understand how to hold tension in a muscle ↕️ they are both extremely useful as it’s a large range of motion with the hip in flexion (& ankle in dorsiflexion which is another entire convo) hip in flexion means the lower glute is going to be in a stretched position which makes the glute max a huge target tissue when the glute max is strong and powerful… that’s the 🍑 everyone wants! shoutout to @projectsunny for helping me demo this 🙌 💕 like it!? helpful!? Using a small block in front of the knee helps control the movement during step-downs. It prevents the knee from drifting too far forward or collapsing back and forces you to move slowly and stay in control. That lets you push the hips back safely and create a deeper stretch in the glutes and hamstrings. When you come back up, that stretch translates into much better glute engagement. Control the position. Feel the glutes work. #legtraining #stepdown #controlledreps #trainwithintent #strengthtraining

Leg Day - Step Downs One of my favourite leg/glute exercises! I like to use the bench for a deeper step backwards, and have only recently stopped putting my weight on the back foot when stepping down (thanks for the tip @coach_kyetaunton), instead tapping my toe then driving back up. Killer for the 🍑 You can opt for DBs for these too (I use them if I’m at home) but the cable is much easier for me to increase weight and actually hold onto. I don’t tend to use an attachment, instead just hold onto the nobbly bit (technical term) that the karabiner attaches to. This was 4x sets of 10 each leg, 1 set at 17kgs and 3 sets at 25kgs. #legday #stepdown #glutes #gluteworkout #fitnessmotivation #gym #fyp #workout #wotd

Blasting down a downhill can be scary! Here are 3 exercises to get your legs ready for long downhills at home with minimal equipment. 1. Forward Step Downs - This is a quadriceps focused exercise and can be progressed with weight or the height of a box, books, or step. 2. Elevated Lunge Deceleration - Focus on a good absorption with soft knee flexion. - Can be progressed with increased weight, height of box, or increased knee flexion. - A great lower impact exercise if you’re coming back from injury. 3. Eccentric Single Leg Squat - Can be progressed by lowering the box height, increasing the weight, or slowing down the movement. Part 1: Building up resiliency one exercise at a time. #ultrarunning #running #strength #physicaltherapy #adidasrunning

PETERSON STEP DOWN 🚀 In my opinion the best exercise to stabilize your knee! I have used these plenty of times in prehab/rehab procedures when dealing with knee pain! If you have knee issues often times this should be a STAPLE in your WARM UP! I like to start with a 20kg Plate and then do 5 slow and controled reps per side! Then I increase by a 10kg plate until I am slightly above parallel! Make sure that you push back your hips in order to engage your glutes! Then step down without actually loading the foot that is touching the floor! 📸: @snatchandsnaps 📈: @capacityprogram 🤝: @tommys_tape @affenhand @officialbodylab24 #rehab #kneepain #prehab #berlin #athlete #training #capacityprogram #crossfit
