For those who do not want to do the split squats, STEP down either side of the step, squat, step back up into the step💪💪 if you want to modify the drop push up, step your feet back, push up, step back in! What are STEP UPS good for? They work a lot of muscles and help you with stability. ✨How to do step ups correctly? Pushing primarily through your lead foot, lift your body up onto the step or box. Then step backward to the starting position with controlled movements. When you’re doing step-ups, keep your back straight and your abdominal muscles nice and tight. Give it a try 🔥 . . . #iampurepower #purepowerfitness #stepup #stepups #howtostepup #glutes #legs #abdominal #calves #hamstrings #letsworkout

STEP UP vs. STEP DOWN; why do we care!? 👇 first, save this to refer back to and share with your gym partner 👯♀️ ⬆️ a step up is more of a power oriented movement that starts at the bottom and moves to a standing position it’s faster, requires a big push through the foot and achieves full hip extension at the top this is important to train for force production through mainly a single leg you can load this one heavier as its concentric action demands less control and more load ⬇️ a step down is going to be more force absorption this means tempo matters!!! you think about going as slow as you can to build and maintain tension throughout this move starts at the top standing while you allow one leg to slowly reach back for the ground the goal is to barely tap the ground (IF you can even reach the ground) and use still the leg that is on the step to push yourself back up this one is done with less additional load than a step up and requires the person performing to movement to really understand how to hold tension in a muscle ↕️ they are both extremely useful as it’s a large range of motion with the hip in flexion (& ankle in dorsiflexion which is another entire convo) hip in flexion means the lower glute is going to be in a stretched position which makes the glute max a huge target tissue when the glute max is strong and powerful… that’s the 🍑 everyone wants! shoutout to @projectsunny for helping me demo this 🙌 💕 like it!? helpful!? “Step Ups” are one of the most CHEATED exercises out there! Almost everyone (myself included) tends to give a subconscious push off from the back foot as we do step ups. This happens even MORE when we start adding weights to the matter! Sometimes we feel like our arms are the limiting factor, but in reality, we aren’t putting ENOUGH emphasis in our front working leg! ✅ Next time you do step ups, try to see how much weight you can possibly put onto the bench leg while lifting the back leg as GENTLY as possible off of the ground. You will find right away that the step up is wayyyyyy harder than you originally thought it was! Intention, my friends. Bring intention to the step up an watch just how hard light weights can be for this exercise! 💪 Coach Austin 🤘 . . . #fitnesstips #workouttips #coach #fitnesscoach #orangetheoryfitness
