Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said the $200 billion amount in supplemental funding for the war that the Pentagon reportedly requested "could move."

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about supplemental calcium lately, and this one is worth taking the time to answer properly. Someone asked: if you spread calcium out over the day in smaller doses, does that reduce the cardiovascular risk? The thinking being that lower, more distributed doses might cause a less abrupt spike in your blood calcium level. It’s logical. It’s thoughtful. And honestly, it might even be true. But here’s the problem: we don’t have the data to say so. I’m not aware of any long-term studies that correlate heart attack risk with lower-dose calcium supplementation spread over time. So until that research exists, I have to apply the precautionary principle and assume the risk is present regardless of how you divide up the dose. What we do know is that calcium from food doesn’t behave the same way in the body as calcium from a supplement. Dairy, leafy greens, and sardines with the bones don’t cause the same abrupt rise in serum calcium that a pill does. That distinction matters, and it’s the reason I keep coming back to food-first as the foundation. If you’re currently taking supplemental calcium, please have a conversation with your doctor before making any changes, especially if you have cardiovascular risk factors. This is one of those areas where the nuance really does matter.

A Dallas woman, who has received Supplemental Security Income for years due to her severe medical conditions, says her benefits were stopped after the federal government questioned her legal status. 59-year-old Ramona Rakestraw said she has relied on Supplemental Security Income, or SSI, as her sole source of income while battling kidney disease and cancer. She tells FOX 4 that her payments stopped in October after she was told her immigration status was under review. Rakestraw said she was born in 1966 at Parkland Hospital in Dallas and has never lived outside Dallas County nor has she traveled outside the United States. Kidney disease first sent Rakestraw to dialysis at age 28. She later received a transplant, but about 30 years later she returned to dialysis and received a cancer diagnosis in 2024.

Calcium supplements: the risk > the benefits. For more than 15 years, the data has shown that taking supplemental calcium does not reduce fracture risk associated with osteoporosis. What it has been associated with are increased risks of heart attacks, kidney stones, and changes in the clotting profile. And this part is important: The small but insignificant increase in bone density is not the same thing as preventing fractures. So what actually helps? • Getting calcium from food sources (about 1,200 mg/day) YES it is absolutely possible if you eat the right foods. • Resistance / weight training • Hormone replacement therapy, when appropriate • FDA-approved osteoporosis medications, when indicated Don’t do something just simply because it’s been recommended for decades. Many doctors/health care providers may not be aware of this evidence. Look at the data. Bone health is about doing what helps — not what hurts. study: Reid, Ian R. “Calcium Supplementation- Efficacy and Safety.” Current osteoporosis reports vol. 23,1 8. 12 Feb. 2025. Reunited and it feels so good! 💓 After about 3.5 days of intensive supportive care, Hippo is well enough to rejoin her family. Her mama was very happy to see her…and to smell her! I’m continuing to monitor Hippo closely, and to provide supplemental feedings and fluids as needed. She has her heat pad and cozy hut, and is doing great so far. One of the main comments I’m getting is “Why don’t you put her in a sweater?” I addressed it in my story, but I’m adding it here too: As a rule, I don’t put clothing on very young neonatal kittens. I advise strongly against putting a very small neonatal kitten in clothing, because doing so can: 1) restrict mobility at a time when muscle development is crucial 2) restrict normal body development by changing posture and position 3) become a suffocation hazard or restrict breathing 4) cause skin irritation and dermatitis, trap bacteria 5) make it harder to manage sanitary stimulation For these reasons and more, I don’t like clothing on small kittens. That said, we do use socks as kitten sweaters when medically necessary, and it is likely she’ll benefit from that once she’s no longer nesting (with mom or in incubator) and is out and exploring, with slightly better thermoregulation (around 4+ weeks). So while you won’t see sweaters just yet, you probably will soon. I hope that answers the question! P.S. Any chance someone here works at @meta? Please let me know—I’m looking for help undoing an issue my account has had ever since it was hacked 2 years ago. 🥲 TYSM.

Your tax dollars help pay for rich old people to golf in paradise. California residents over 65 and enrolled in the right Medicare plan can get subsidized golf course fees at beautiful Southern California destinations. It’s part of a federal program called Medicare Advantage, whose supplemental benefits cost taxpayers $6.4 billion in 2022, according to the government. The number has likely grown since then. Stirring the pot. A MAGA nightmare. Japan is experimenting with a clever way of turning footsteps into electricity — not as a major power source for homes or factories, but as a supplemental, sustainable energy solution in busy urban spaces. 👣 How It Works: Piezoelectric Technology The key technology is called piezoelectric energy harvesting: • Piezoelectric materials are special materials that generate an electric charge when they are squeezed or stressed. • In Japan, certain walkways and station floors are equipped with piezoelectric tiles. When millions of people walk over them, the pressure from their footsteps applies mechanical stress to the piezoelectric elements inside the tiles. . . . #Maga#liberalmemes#trump#breaking#fy
