A crowd gathered Sunday evening at Monument Circle, the local branch of a national ‘Singing Resistance’ movement to protest recent incidents of violence during immigration enforcement.

Some area students walked out of classes on Friday, protesting federal immigration tactics carried out by ICE. In East St. Louis, religious leaders gathered to share their concerns. Some say ICE’s actions have had a chilling effect in their communities, creating fear and uncertainty. Earlier today, Senator Eric Schmitt spoke on the Senate floor in support of ICE, saying the rule of law is essential.
