Terry Davis was a gifted programmer who battled schizophrenia throughout his life. Despite his struggles, he managed to design and build TempleOS, an operating system entirely from scratch. This included complex elements like the kernel, compiler, and even graphics—tasks that usually require large teams. His work stands out not only for its technical achievement but also for how his condition influenced its direction. TempleOS became both a unique software project and a window into Davis’s creativity, making it one of the most fascinating pieces of computing history. 👉 For more unbelievable real-life stories like this, follow @thescaryfact

💡 What programming language should beginners start with? Ruby might surprise you. According to David Heinemeier Hansson (creator of Ruby on Rails), Ruby is one of the best first languages because it removes unnecessary complexity and helps beginners understand core programming concepts faster. 👉 With Ruby, you learn the fundamentals like loops, conditionals, and logic without drowning in boilerplate code. Even printing Hello World is simple and readable — no extra setup, no distractions. 🚀 Want to build real projects? DHH recommends jumping into Ruby on Rails early if your goal is web development. Building something real keeps motivation high and helps you learn faster than studying code in isolation. 🌐 Next step? JavaScript. If you want to work with websites, apps, or online tools, JavaScript is essential. It powers the modern web and opens doors to countless opportunities in tech and business. 🎮 Thinking about games or systems programming? That’s where C or C++ comes in — but for most beginners, Ruby and JavaScript are the best place to start. 💬 Question for you: Which programming language did you start with — and would you choose a different one today? The jump from HTML and CSS, to JavaScript is a big one, and many quit at this point. Why? This is the first time when you start to really get into programming, logic, and begin to learn how to think in code. 👨🏻💻 Don’t quit, give it time and find the right blend between tutorials and practicing (with the 3 free sites I’ve included in this video). You want to find the sweet spot of feeling challenged (but not drowning) and also pushing yourself. 👾 Firstly you need to a download of knowledge Check these out : 👾 Programming with Mosh - I particularly liked his object oriented programming tutorials. Has been putting out solid YouTube content for years now. 👾 FreeCodeCamp - the 🐐 of free resources on YouTube. 👾 SuperSimpleDev - I stumbled across this channel whilst learning back end. Has some of the clearest, simplistic explanations you can find on complex subjects. 👾 NetNinja - I learnt JavaScript from this instructor, absolute legend. 👾 AsmrProg - found this channel recently. No talking, just asmr mechanical keyboard sounds/fetish that seems to be a thing. 👾 Dave Gray - nice guy who puts lots of long form courses out for free on all different types of languages. 👾 Bro code - funny and straight to the point. I’m a fan. Now we practice 🎨👷♂️🛠️ If you just watch tutorials, it will take you 2x longer to learn. Practice at every step with these three. 👾 Codewars - best free place to practice. Although some of the questions can be long (Jim has 250 lemons kinda thing). Start at 8kyu (it’s a good precursor to LeetCode). 👾 100JSProjects - I used this when learning, has lots of different projects of differing complexity for you to test yourself. 👾 Exercism - similar to Codewars, although Codewars is a better free option in my opinion.
