His life took a dramatic turn when he was insulted by the powerful Nanda king of Magadha. Determined to overthrow the unjust ruler, Chanakya vowed revenge and began searching for a capable leader. He found a young boy named , whom he mentored and trained in warfare, leadership, and statecraft. With Chanakya’s guidance, Chandragupta successfully defeated the Nanda dynasty and established the Maurya Empire around 321 BCE. Chanakya then became his chief advisor, playing a key role in administration and governance. Chanakya is best known for writing the Arthashastra, one of the earliest and most important works on political science, economics, and governance. His ideas emphasized practical wisdom, intelligence, and strategic thinking over idealism. He spent his later years advising the empire and spreading his teachings.
