“Being a mama artist is hard. You think you have it figured out only to find yourself thrusted into a completely different rhythm, many times invisible to others. You burn out, not from work or motherhood, but the balancing act of many things weighing on your shoulders. You want to be who you are, you want to fit into the world you once were a part of before the identity of mother came, yet, you feel alienated because the world you once knew isn’t built for mothers, but for women who have to carry the burden of motherhood as if it is a curse. You are reminded over and over again, how limited your resources are, how you are not welcomed as your new identity. Compound that with other stigmas: women, minority, immigrant, and many other titles that make one feel less-than. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What is the answer? I don’t know. It was this cue… 👇 ➡️ “Tits Over Toes” Look at the athlete’s position in the first clip. ➡️Rigid, chest thrusted, frantic. Then look at the difference in the second clip. ➡️Chest slightly forward, relaxed, in control. This cue, which is an adjustment of positioning (form), can often improve pelvic health and orthopedic symptoms for many pregnant and postpartum athletes, such as incontinence. “Tits over toes” is a cue I use for high impact, as it improves the position of the pelvic floor to both absorb force and produce it. It also improve back and hip pain by involving the glutes more and incorporating more extension, as well as improve their function and athletic performance.
