Settings for this timelapse: Focal length: 14mm Shutter ~300 shots of 20 s: long enough to gather a lot of light with each exposure, but short enough to keep the stars from trailing at 14mm Aperture f/1.8: wide open to maximise light per frame ISO 640: low enough to preserve highlights in the sky glow (I could have gone with 800 or 1000 here too) The idea with settings like this is: Use as much of the available light as possible with aperture + exposure time Then adjust ISO to get a good exposure, slightly on the darker side, in case conditions change later in the timelapse Practically, that means keeping the main body of the histogram a bit to the left rather than pushing it to the right. The milkyway was "Up All Night" at @fowkes_farm. This beautiful startrail was captured using my Samsung S22 Ultra using the Deep Sky Camera App. A total of 900 x 15 second exposures at ISO3200 stacked using the Timelab app. #kinglake #milkyway #samsung #timelapse #Astrophotography
