🍅 I see so many people worry about leggy tomatoes but it’s such an easy fix and the extra roots they develop often turn them into stronger plants anyway.

The experimental tomatoes are getting rather leggy so time for an upgrade Since January, I’ve been sowing a new batch of tomatoes each month and will continue to do so probably up until May I want to see if I can prolong the growing period at all as I really struggle with shop bought tomatoes now! I’ve now repotted these into 10cm pots using a mix of peat tree compost and perlite and keeping them indoors #vegetablegarden #growyourown #tomatoes

Planted my tomatoes in December 🌱 and now they’re giving tomatoes 🍅😍 I’m still learning as I grow cutting off the extra leaves and mixing them back into the soil really helped. Let’s up pot some tomatoes! 🍅 Many seedlings 🌱 benefit from a potting up, particularly plants that take longer to grow like tomatoes, peppers and some herbs & flowers. Giving your tomatoes larger pots as they grow will lead to bushier, stronger 💪🏻 plants. A good time to pot up is when they have developed one or two sets of true leaves 🍃. Or when you are seeing the roots at the bottom of their current container. I like to place them in a quality potting soil mix with some added worm 🪱 castings, pre moistening the mixture before planting. Remember to plant deeply and gently press soil down, center the plant into the pot. Place back under your plants and water 💦 I could probably put these in a slightly bigger pot or pot up a second time before I plant but I plant out. However I plant out fairly small plants so this works for me and my climate. Always do what works for you and your garden! If you found this helpful, please give it a share! THIS is the season. The best season to start tomato seedlings 🍅✨ In the crazy world we’re living in right now, I can’t even count the benefits of growing your own food. There’s something grounding, empowering, and honestly magical about it. So here’s my favourite, no-fuss method: 1️⃣ Any soil works. As long as it’s evenly moist, you don’t need anything fancy. Good organic soil you already have? Perfect. 2️⃣ One pot. All the seeds. Yes — dump the whole packet into one larger pot. They’ll be crowded, and that’s okay. We’ll deal with it later. This saves space and keeps you from staring at empty pots for weeks. 3️⃣ Sun. Immediately. The moment they sprout, give them lots of light. This prevents leggy, weak seedlings. 4️⃣ Second set of true leaves? Time to separate. Choose the strongest plants and bury them deep — all the way up to the first true leaves.
