✨What Is Two-Factor Authentication?✨ So many bookish accounts are suspended or hacked lately… One important step to protect your account is to activate the two-factor authentication. This method requires 2 verification steps in order to authorize the access to your account. It will slow down, and even stop, many hacking attempts, so activate it now! Needless to say, the first step before activating this is to make sure your password is strong and unique (I use a password manager to suggest and store them in). And…. NEVER CLICK ON LINKS you are not CERTAIN of the source. Hackers are resourceful, unfortunately. Sometimes, it seems like the real thing, but it’s not. Be careful! To turn it on: 1. On your profile page, click on the hamburger menu at the top right of your screen 2. Select “Settings and privacy” 3. Click on the Accounts Center at the top of your screen 4. Select “Password and security” 5. Select “Two-factor authentication” 6. Choose the account you want to set the two-factor authentication in 7. You can either set it up with a text message (you can confirm the mobile number that’s already been added to your account or add a new number) or with an additional method: login requests or backup codes (useful when you lose access to your phone/email address) 8. You can also use an authentication app or WhatsApp as a backup method Once your two-factor authentication is turned on, you will be able to see if an unauthorized device has accessed your account. If there are, you will be able to remove them. Don’t forget to mark your devices as authorized devices; this will prevent you from entering a security code each time you login from them. (Note that you will first need to sign in with the two-factor authentication in the device to be able to mark it as trusted.)
