Two Step Pretzel Tips… For the Lead: - Lead with your body, not your arms: Start the pretzel by rotating your torso and stepping with intention—your hands should guide, not yank. - Create space before the wrap: Give a tiny bit of room between you and the follow (don’t crowd) so the wrap happens smoothly without collapsing the connection. - Stay on time through the turn: Keep your basic rhythm consistent (don’t stop your feet to “do the move”). A clean pretzel is just a turn with good timing. - Unwind clearly: Prep the exit by lifting slightly and opening your shoulder line so the follow feels the direction of the unwrap before it happens. Two Step Pretzel Tips for the Follow: - Stay tall + connected: Keep posture lifted, ribs stacked over hips, and maintain light tone in your arms so you don’t get “pulled into the wrap.” - Turn from your core: Let your body rotate first—arms follow. If you spin from the arms, you’ll feel tangled fast. - Small steps, close feet: Two Step pretzels are smoother with compact steps (don’t overstep) so you can stay balanced through the wrap and unwind. - Spot if you’re turning: If there’s rotation, use a soft spot to stay oriented and avoid drifting off the line of dance. - Don’t “help” the unwind: Stay responsive—keep your frame and wait for the lead’s opening.
