Instead, focus on talking like you’re recommending the product to a friend! Keep your tone natural, yet engaging, and make sure your body language matches your words too! 🚩 Bad LIGHTING Good lighting helps to see products clearly and makes your content stand out. Always film near a window (or use a lighting set up) to help improve your video quality. 🚩 SHAKY camera work If you’re shooting clips where your phone should be stable but instead it is wobbly, your video can feel low-effort. A simple tripod makes a huge difference! My faves are on Amazon for $30 🚩 Videos not ENGAGING enough People have short attention spans, so keep your videos quick and snappy. Utilise a range of B-Roll snippets, remove silent pauses and cut out unnecessary footage where you need to. 🚩 Ignoring video ‘SAFE ZONES’ Placing text, captions, or important visuals too close to video edges can cause them to be cut off by platform overlays (like Instagram’s caption bar). Week 2: Start creating Content for your UGC portfolio. You can create your portfolio for free using canva. You don’t need expensive equipment to do this all you need is a phone with a camera and a window for good lighting. Do this using the products you already own like cosmetics, hair products etc Week 3: Create a rate card, as a starting creator you should charge no less than a $150 per UGC video as a complete beginner. You can offer bundles at a discounted rate and upsell for additional hooks and charge extra for usage rights. Week 4: Learn how to pitch and negotiate, create a folder of brands contacts you’d like to work with. To find brands you can work with you can register for free UGC platforms and reach out to brands directly outside of the platform or find their contacts through Linkedin, Instagram etc. Week 5: Send your pitches ! While you’re waiting for your responses continue to find more brands and within your first week you should start getting replies 🎀 It’s that easy !
