The traditional paradigm of parenting was built on a model of hierarchy in which the child maybe seen as less than. In turn, when we may mistakenly see ourselves as greater than, we may justify some of our behaviors that don’t serve the growth in our children or ourselves, like: 🙅‍♀️ Criticizing 🙅🏻‍♀️ Shaming 🙅🏼‍♀️ Comparing 🙅🏽‍♀️ Screaming 🙅🏾‍♀️ Spanking 🙅🏿‍♀️ Pressuring In Conscious Parenting the child is seen as a throbbing spirit of its own, embarking on their own individual journey while in the safety and guidance of the parent, offering: 💁‍♀️ Mirroring 💁🏻‍♀️ Validating 💁🏼‍♀️ Respecting 💁🏽‍♀️ Honoring 💁🏾‍♀️ Individuating 💁🏿‍♀️ Celebrating 🤍 Putting focus on connection based parenting is far more effective in creating long lasting change and growth for both parent and child, in turn not needing much correction. 🤍 I truly believe there is a Conscious Parent within all of us with a parent wanting to validate behind their criticism and celebrate individuation behind their pressuring. ✨ Not sure where to begin? How do you do this? Here’s 4 steps: ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1. Make a plan with your partner beforehand for how you will navigate late night arguments. If you leave it up to an in the moment decision, things can feel very overwhelming and stuck. ⁣⁣ ⁣ 2. Learn to recognize when you and your partner are “flooded” emotionally. This means you’re not thinking clearly and your argument is escalating or going in circles. It’s important to notice it and label it so you can take a break. You can’t solve arguments if you’re flooded. ⁣⁣ ⁣ 3. Have a word or a phrase planned and ready to use for when these situations come up. It can be “We’re flooded” or “we need to sleep on this.” Something that signals to each other that we CARE about the conflict, but we are too tired and flooded to process it successfully right now. ⁣ ⁣ 4. *Come back to it in the morning! Repairing and resolving conflict is so important. Don’t avoid it. There are so many things that I’ve done in the past that I didn’t know was tied to ADHD. It is validating to know that I am really no different than many other people out there. I literally thought I was the only one doing what I was doing and saying what I was saying. That is why it is so important to me to teach my children to love who they are, every part of them. I want them to know just because they think differently does them make them lesser than. They are taking a different road to reach the same goal. That is ok! What did you learn was tied to ADHD?

This journey called life is not always going to be easy. Even when we think we have trudged through the muck of it there is always something more to work through. ❤️‍🔥I’ve struggled all my life with #selfworth and #validating myself through the worthiness of others and how they reciprocate back to me. ❤️‍🔥Even with all the healing and learning that I have done with this limiting self belief it has come up for me A LOT lately. ❤️‍🔥I’ve been working through this with my therapist and doing #emdr sessions and let me tell YOU! It still bites me in the A$$! ❤️‍🔥And just as I am working through it I am presented with real life challenges that bring it up front and center. ❤️‍🔥Not only with romantic relationships but platonic and friendships as well! ❤️‍🔥So here is a reminder not only to myself but also to you🫵🏽 ⚡️No one can determine your worth BUT YOU! ⚡️If they aren’t reciprocating back don’t go down the rabbit hole that it has ANYTHING to do with YOU! Do I need to remind you that the sun doesn’t revolve around YOU?!
