A glimpse into the hypnotic making of the Syntopia dress ~ bird soundwave patterns are lasercut into a very fine stainless steel skeleton which is heatbonded to white cotton. Inside, transparent black silk is meticulously layered by hand, for sound to take shape. The Syntopia dress is currently on view at the @MuseeLouvre Couture exhibition. #irisvanherpen #hautecouture

A fine line of reality~ The glitch dress is now on display in the @MoMuAntwerp museum as part of the P.LACE.S exhibition. This black and white look is made from white mylar that is laser cut into the finest lace of thousands of 1 mm harmonica-waves that dance with the body. Fittings inside the atelier ~ The ‘Galactic Glitch’ dress is created in collaboration with architect @Philip.Beesley. Cloud-printed Komon Koubou textile was heatbonded to mylar and lasercut in the finest pattern of thousands of 1 mm waves that are interlinked. The movement creates a 3D harmonica effect and was elegantly engineered to move faster than the eye can follow. #irisvanherpen #hautecouture

Inside the atelier ~ fittings of the  ‘Magnetosphere’ dress. Created with Parley for the Oceans, sourced from recycled marine plastic @Parley.tv and artist @Rogan_Brown_ . Delicate layers of lace are hand- and lasercut to then be spirally stitched to encircle the body, mirroring the fabric’s evolution from plant, to weave, to plant again. #irisvanherpen #hautecouture
