Here’s the science behind why a battery placed at the “far end” in a drawing can look bigger than one placed at the “near end,” even if they are the same size in real life: ⸻ 🧠 The Science: Forced Perspective & Depth Cues 🔸 1. Linear Perspective In 2D or 3D drawings (like a hallway or a room), lines converge toward a vanishing point (usually on the horizon). This creates the illusion of depth. • The far end of the wall is often drawn narrower or with converging lines, mimicking how distant objects appear in real life. • Anything placed closer to the vanishing point appears deeper in the drawing but can occupy more vertical space in the frame, making it look larger if not adjusted for depth. 🔸 2. Depth Cue Conflict Your brain uses depth cues (like size, shadows, overlap, and perspective) to judge distance.
