Marana Regional Airport (AVQ) is a regional untowered airport about 25 miles from Tucson. It was one of the first stops for myself and my friends Brian (@uretskyaviation ) and his wife Sam (@sammie_sun_shine )on our fast-paced aviation visit to AZ. AVQ has a great FBO which was super welcoming (Brian is also a 767 pilot), a flight training center, skydiving operations, repair facilities, hangar storage, a restaurant and also a small (yet packed) MIL boneyard. There’s also an amazing boneyard which has larger commercial jets which we truly enjoyed. More on all of that soon! One of the cool things about Arizona is that the desert conditions provide optimal storage for aircraft. This means many airports and air parks house a few (or a lot) of retired or transient aircraft and there are also famous museums such as PIMA Air and Space. As eager beavers not native to the desert, we were pretty gaga over the amazing stored aircraft there. Fight’s On! 🏁 U.S. Marines with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 312 arrive at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan. VMFA-312 arrived at MCAS Iwakuni as part of the Unit Deployment Program to augment MAG-12 and enables squadrons throughout the Marine Corps to exercise expeditionary capabilities while providing a forward presence in the Indo-Pacific.
