Tips for the perfect tape peel👇 Here’s what makes the biggest difference for me: • Paper matters. 100% cotton paper is more forgiving and flexible, so tape usually lifts more easily. Wood-pulp paper works too, it just needs a bit more care. • Tape type. I’m using X-Press It masking tape here, but I’ve used Scotch tape, Frog tape, and Washi tape too. Technique matters more than the brand. • Reducing the tackiness of the tape if needed. If your tape feels very sticky, press it onto your clothes once or twice before applying it. • Temperature helps. Warm days make tape release more easily. In cooler weather, the adhesive tends to grip more. • Use a burst of heat. A quick pass with a hairdryer or heat gun can help loosen the adhesive. • Timing matters. Leaving tape on for too long can make it harder to remove cleanly. • Peeling technique. Peel slowly at a shallow angle, pulling the tape back on itself and away from the painting. Slow and steady always wins and If it feels like it’s stuck, always remember - heat is your friend. Happy tape peeling ❤️ #tapepeel #tapepeeling #arttip #watercolorpainting #watercolortips

2 Easy Tips for Smooth Damp Paper Painting ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ When working wet-on-wet, 1️⃣your paper may not be fully wet to begin with, 2️⃣or it may have started wet and is now drying, but it’s still damp enough to keep painting. This is a common stage where beginners often run into backruns (see example 1 in the video) or washed-out colors (see example 2 in the video). Tips: 1 Try not to add extra water to your brush when going in with another stroke, or it can create uneven distributions or backruns. 2 Adding another layer with glazing can help refine your painting, if you didnt get to finish everything the first time. (Just like in the second example. ) Here, glazing is like breaking one tricky step into two smaller parts to make it easier for beginners. 3 Since you can’t really move the first layer when glazing, it’s a good idea to decide ahead of time which approach will be most effective for achieving the result you want in your painting. . If your paintings dry warped, this helps. Once my paintings are completely dry, I lightly spray the back of the paper with water to relax the fibres. I place the piece between sheets of baking paper (parchment paper), stack a few heavy books on top, and leave it to dry overnight. It’s a small finishing step, but it saves a lot of frustration and makes pieces much easier to store or frame. Comment SUPPLIES and I’ll send you a list of all of my favourite art supplies that I use everyday ♥️ Re-sharing this reel because I got quiteee a lot of messages asking what brushes I use, and which paints I’m using! I exclusively work with a limited palette of just six (yes six!) @winsorandnewton paints - this helps me reduce overwhelm and I now really *know* my paints! I’ve also listed some of my favourite palettes from @jacksons_art and paper from @archespapers! I’m a big believer that you don’t need a lot of art supplies (and actually that can make life more difficult!) - just the right ones ✨ As I mentioned, comment SUPPLIES and I’ll send it across 🥹♥️

shout out to @miri8paper @mirinamoloneyart for filming this! ❤️😅 this painting was a very particular dimension so finding actually deckled paper in that size wasn’t gunna happen. there’s not much scarier than “deckling” a finished painting, i was so relieved it went well! should i add this as an option for future commissions? #watercolortips #decklededgepaper #dualedgeripper
