It took me 8 years to learn this… But I’ll teach it to you in 1 minute… Not just the technique… But how to stay when everything feels like it’s not working. – When the wire won’t cooperate… pause. Frustration shows in your hands. – If it keeps bending wrong, your tension is off, not your skill. Adjust, don’t quit. – When your design looks messy, go back to the frame. The problem usually starts there. – If you’re over-wrapping, you’re trying to hide something. Simplicity is confidence. – When symmetry feels impossible, stop chasing perfect, look for balance instead. – If you feel stuck, rotate the piece. A new angle often solves what force can’t. – When you want to give up, finish the piece anyway. Progress hides in imperfect work. – If your ends look rough, slow down. Precision only comes when you stop rushing. – When everything feels “off,” step away. Your eye resets faster than your hands. – And when nothing works… remember: every clean piece you admire came from moments like this. You’re not behind. You’re in the part that shapes real skill. Big announcement! 🥳 It seems like a lot of you guys want to learn wire wrapping, so this year I’ll be focusing on teaching! I’ve started a wire jewelry community over on Skool where I’ll be posting all future wire jewelry tutorials! At the moment, membership is FREE and then you have the option to upgrade your plan to access more tutorials (without ads 🙌)—starting at only $5 a month. Prices will gradually increase as I create more content, but if you subscribe early, you’ll be locked in at the discount price level even after prices go up! 🤫 My goal is to create a community with active members who want to learn and grow together. Wire wrapping away, trying to distract myself from the stress of having to put my business on pause right now. My heart goes out to all the other small businesses whose livelihood got taken away from them so suddenly, stay strong, we will survive this! Hoping all the tariff stuff is sorted in September and I can resume sales and shipping to the US. Music to the ears, I tell ya! ⚒️🎶 When I started wire wrapping 7 years ago, I would spend hours upon hours doing research on different metal manipulation techniques and kept coming across these incredible pieces with thick, wavy, dimensional wires and was determined to learn how to do that “one day”. After years of practice, a ton of research, even more trial and error, I finally learned and implemented the technique used to created the pieces I once admired (and still admire) so much… This technique is called “cold forging”, or an often used slang term is “hammering”. As you can see, I use a steel block and a fancy little hammer called a “chasing hammer” to stretch, shape and harden wire to use within my pieces. No torches or heat of any kind are used, (this includes when wires are eventually attached to their frames), just wire, fairly simple primitive tools, my hands and a little finesse. While it’s taken some time to get the hang of this technique, as it can be a lengthy, tedious process, it’s almost exclusively what I use now… Nearly every single element within my pieces have been cold forged to some capacity, which gives dimension, sturdiness, and a lustrous shine. All of this to say, I imagined myself getting to this level of wire wrapping “one day”, and chances are, if you can imagine yourself doing something you’ve really only dreamed of, you’re likely meant to do it. Take that risk, start the thing you’ve always wanted to, practice, and have patience with yourself along the way. I still have so much to learn within this incredible art form we call “wire wrapping”, and though not every season of this journey of mine has been easy, it’s all been worth it. ❤️ A few of the pieces you see here have been adopted, but the others are awaiting their forever homes! Usually right before I start, I’ll sit at my desk with my eyes closed, making funny faces while I imagine all the twists and turns of the jewelry to come. If I can’t quite work it out in my noggin, I’ll grab the sketch book. Sometimes just to work out one tiny part that I can’t quite piece together. .
