Witchy little rituals that feel fake but actually work...and the nervous system science to back them up. 1. Setting intentions before rituals. Intention activates your RAS (Reticular Activating System). Your brain starts filtering reality to show you evidence of what you’re focusing on. The magic is making your perception widening. 2. Moon water and moon rituals. Syncing intentions with lunar cycles gives your brain a rhythm and timeline. Your nervous system craves predictable cycles. You’re giving yourself permission to act in alignment with natural rhythms, and tapping into some of the moons magic. 3. Doing things in nature. Nature exposure activates your parasympathetic nervous system (rest/digest). Your nervous system evolved in nature. Being in it signals safety. By doing green witch rituals you are not just connecting with nature; you’re remembering you’re part of it. 4. Burning items to cleanse energy. Fire is symbolic completion. Your nervous system doesn’t distinguish between symbolic and literal closure. When you physically destroy something, your brain receives the signal: this is done. Your brain legit read it as the chapter closed. 5. Tarot and oracle cards. Tarot doesn’t predict the future. It accesses your intuition by giving your subconscious something to project onto. The cards reflect back what you already know but haven’t articulated. It’s externalizing your internal wisdom. 6. Bringing “magic” into daily life. When you frame ordinary moments as sacred, your RAS starts noticing magic everywhere. You’re literally rewiring your neural pathways to filter for beauty and synchronicity instead of threat. 7. Mindful consumption. What you consume shapes your nervous system. Choosing consciously what enters your field—media, food, energy, people—isn’t witchy. It’s boundaries. And boundaries create the safety your nervous system needs. It’s not magic making it happen. It’s you giving yourself permission to see it.
