Expanding opportunity means creating real pathways for Bahamians to earn, grow, and build lasting careers, and through BPATH we are opening doors to hands-on training, mentorship, and direct job placement in key industries so more people can gain practical skills, secure steady employment, and move their families and communities forward as we continue to build a stronger, more inclusive economy for our country.

We had the opportunity to host Greg Zick, Director of Workforce Development at the National Association of Home Builders, on the Treasure Coast to showcase partnership in action. We toured: 🔹 Indian River State College – Skilled trades & manufacturing programs preparing students with hands-on training 🔹 Port St. Lucie High School – Building Construction Technology students gaining real-world experience 🔹 Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Stuart – Pre-apprenticeship pathways in partnership with Florida Training Services When education, nonprofits, and industry align, we strengthen the workforce pipeline for our region. Today, we didn’t just celebrate 19 apprentices. We celebrated 19 nation builders. 🇧🇸 Cohort 2 of the National Apprenticeship Programme represents what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Before this ceremony even began, 15 had already been selected by employer partners. Three are already on the job. And today, apprentices signed employment contracts on the spot with their employer partners. That is what progress looks like. Construction is not just a trade. It is nation-building. Every road, every school, every hospital, every home - someone skilled built it. And as The Bahamas grows, we are ensuring that Bahamians are ready to build it. Through the National Apprenticeship Programme, we are creating real pathways to employment. Earn while you learn. Train while you build. Grow while you contribute. This is public-private partnership working exactly as it should - employers investing early, government expanding opportunity, and Bahamians stepping up to the challenge. Cohort 2, today is not your finish line. It is your starting line. Be ambassadors. Carry the NAP standard with pride. Show the country what a skilled Bahamian tradesperson can do. Big news for Brevard County! Eastern Florida State College has been awarded a $1.5 million Florida Job Growth Workforce Training Grant to expand high-demand job training programs on the Space Coast. Programs in aerospace, construction, welding, and HVAC will see upgrades and expanded hands-on learning — helping students qualify for high-paying careers right here in Central Florida.
