COMPOST TEA = Liquid Gold for Your Soil! Want thriving plants in South East Queensland's climate? Feed your soil microbes! This simple DIY compost tea recipe supercharges your garden with beneficial bacteria, fungi, and nutrients that plants LOVE. Perfect for SEQ's subtropical conditions where rapid decomposition means we need to keep replenishing soil life. What You Need: • 5L water (preferably rainwater) • 2 cups quality compost • Mesh bag or old stocking • 1 tbsp molasses (feeds microbes!) How to Brew: Fill bag with compost, tie it up Submerge in water bucket Add molasses, stir well Let brew 24-48 hours (stir daily) Remove bag, water plants with tea 🌱 The microbes break down nutrients, improve soil structure, and protect against disease—naturally! In SEQ's warm, humid climate, maintaining vibrant microbial communities is ESSENTIAL for soil health. Our blog dives deep into why microbes matter and how to revive tired soils. This is just one aspect of what keeps our gardens healthy and flourishing! Making the most of the liquid gold we get from our compost, so our plants get fed with the best, and feed us the same 🌱 #compost #composttea #foodgarden #sustainablity #urbanharvest

Stop throwing away free plant food! 🍌🌱 That banana peel you just tossed? It’s liquid gold for your garden. Most people spend hundreds on fertilizers every year, while their best resource is sitting in the trash. This blue barrel is my compost tea station: • Kitchen scraps go in — banana peels, vegetable scraps, orange rinds, even old pumpkins • Add water from your rain barrel or hose • Let it brew for 2–3 weeks The result? A rich, amber liquid packed with nitrogen, potassium, and micronutrients your plants love. One barrel of scraps can give you gallons of free fertilizer, no expensive bottles needed. If you want the exact recipe and brewing guide, comment COMPOST and I’ll send you something helpful 🌿 . . . #composttea #organicgardening #growyourownfood #sustainablegardening

I use several processes for making fertilizer and compost using several types of decomposers. But some are easier and cheaper than others. Here is just a compost tea that only required: •Barrel •Solar aerator •wetland water for starter culture •Soft organic material (not woody) I leave this running all winter on a sunny south easy side of a building to keep warmish and I have a rich soup the plants love in the spring.

The really cold temps seem to be done for this winter (🤞) so here we go! #organicgardening #composttea #compost #compostbin #avocation

This is one of those behind-the-scenes things most people never get to see — and it’s a big part of why our biology works the way it does. This is our new flow-through worm bin, and the worms are fed with the used tea bags from our compost tea process. Those tea bags are already loaded with biology and nutrient-dense inputs like kelp meal, alfalfa meal, rock dust, mushroom substrates, and our finished compost — and the biology inside them has already been multiplied hundreds of times during brewing. When we dump them into the bin, the worms don’t hesitate. They crawl straight up into the material and get to work. The castings that come out of this system are incredibly rich — but we don’t sell them. They’re used exclusively to make our compost tea, which then gets soaked into finely screened biochar or blended directly into our compost. It’s a closed-loop system built to strengthen soil biology at every step. We know this level of detail isn’t necessary for most people — but it is necessary if you care about building soil that actually performs long-term. Yes, we’re soil nerds. And this is exactly why our products work. Did you know compost tea and worm castings were connected like this? What part of this process surprised you the most? Drop a comment 👇 Want soil biology that’s built this intentionally? We put this process into our compost tea, and biochar so your soil can actually do its job. 👉 Link in bio . . . . #farmdirtcompost #wormcastings #composttea #biochar #farmdirt
