Maxim’s grinder is a 38mm pentagonal conical burr set grinder. The grinder unit comes along with 2 modes single and double which you can customise based upon grind by time or grind by weight which really is commendable on a home espresso machine! Another good offering which they have is the variable speed settings on the grinder making the grinds more consistent leading to even extraction. But the grinder motor struggles with light roast and medium light roasted coffee along with good retention as there have been instances where the beans are stuck in the grinding chamber between the hopper and the burrs leading to less coffee in the portafilter. The grinder seems apt for medium, medium darks and dark roasted coffee majorly focusing towards the target market of milk based coffee drinkers! I have seen the grinder motor heat up with back to back use, where I can deduce that the variable speed setting is creating a strain on the motor!
