Can you believe this waterfall is in Georgia?! I was in complete awe when I saw it! Anna Ruby Falls is located minutes from Helen in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest. The paved 0.5 mile trail is absolutely gorgeous. We went after a rainstorm so the water was really flowing! Anna Ruby Falls is located in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest near Helen, Georgia and Unicoi State Park. The hike is an easy 1/2 mile paved trail. The cost to enter is $5/person for ages 16 and up, and free for ages 15 and under. The taller of these twin waterfalls is approximately 153 ft and is Curtis Creek, while the other drops 50 ft and is York Creek. They converge at the base forming Smith Creek. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒🥾 family friendly hike just 10 miles from our @yonagoglamping Georgia Glamping dome in Sautee Nacoochee, GA just 5 hours from Charleston, SC. #AnnaRubyFalls is right near @visithelenga @georgia is seriously so beautiful and here is why we love it! Highly recommend Ruby Falls by @ginphillips because we need a break from this world by entering another place in another time with all kinds of twists & turns. (If you’ve read it, let me know your thoughts!) Excerpt from p 15-16 with a conversation between Ruby & her friend Ada after Ruby’s first look at the falls. How great is this? >>> “You went into the mountain with him?” Ada calls. Ruby’s breath smokes in the cold air, and her eyes are hidden in the shadow of her hat. “I had to see for myself, didn’t I?” she says, grinning. Ada has heard the story a dozen times since yesterday. Three days after he was given up for dead, Leo Lambert launched himself into the rock again, only this time he took his wife with him. Ruby ducks her chin into her woolen collar. “He was right. That waterfall was like seeing God. Like when the burning bush talked to Moses—that’s what I expected. For God to say something.” Ada finds the answer frustrating. It doesn’t help her to picture it in the slightest. “Was it frightening?” she asks. They pause at the curb, waiting for a streetcar to pass. A paper bag blows across the asphalt and under the rails; it’s smashed by the car and resurrected, floating away over the opposite curb. “I’d never have done it without Leo next to me,” Ruby says. “I’d never even have stuck my head into that first crevice. You look behind you, and it’s pure nothingness, like all your strings have been cut. Like a coffin. But when I felt it closing in around me, I’d see his boots kicking along in front of me, and he’d be rambling on about limestone, and I’d settle.” This is more helpful. Ada understands darkness and crawling and coffins. “So you didn’t feel what he feels?” she asks, stepping onto the crosswalk. Ruby shakes her head. “What do you think he feels?” “You know very well,” Ada says. “It’s like he’s got electricity running through him.” Last week wasn’t the first time Ada has seen Leo vibrate while he talks about shafts and sea level. It reminds her of how her mother talked about four-part harmony and how her grandfather talked about Wordsworth.
