Anomalocaris was a radiodont arthropod that lived in the Cambrian oceans at the same time as trilobites. They were the worlds first apex predator and evolved these little front appendages that were used specifically for catching and eating prey. Trilobites on the other hand, evolved defensive traits such as a hard dorsal exoskeleton to protect themselves from predators. However once some neat frontal appendages came around to flip em over, they didn’t stand a chance!! - My interest in trilobites was reignited over the weekend with a cool conversation with my new friend @ri.lla on my field trip!
