Fancy name: hysteroscopy with dilation and curettage with #polypectomy aka #DandC to remove a #polyp from my uterus! All went well but I was high as a kite for a “minute”. #Perimenopause had been fun and wihkle this is common I know many of you might have questions! Drop them below 👇🏾. Endometrial polyps – 👉Are benign (noncancerous) growths of the uterine lining (endometrium) that can cause heavy, irregular bleeding or spotting, especially between periods or after intercourse, 👉 Can affect fertility . 👉 Classic USG features : ✅​ Typically solitary homogeneous , echogenic lesion . ✅Interrupted mucosa sign: the endometrial polyp focally interrupts the normal mucosal contour of the uterine cavity . ✅Stalk to the polyp may either be thin (i.e. pedunculated) or broad-based . Vascular pedicle sign : blood flow within pedicle on colour Doppler . ✅Bright edge sign: the appearance of one or two well-defined short echogenic linear echoes at the polyp edge . ​✅May rarely appear as a focal non-specific thickened endometrium, without visualization of a discrete mass . #polyp #menstrualhealth #menstrualdisturbance #bleedingdisorders #ultrasound

True story. A patient and I were ‘trouble-shooting’ the best plan that she felt comfortable with, with regards to an endometrial polyp. Now there’s no ‘right or wrong’ way to treat necessarily, but what is the best way for each individual person. For her she wanted to avoid surgery if she could.
