We promised you that we will get clarification from a credible authority on the topic and hence we reached out to Mr. Veluswamy - President, Automotive Technology and Product Development at Mahindra and Mahindra. We had filmed our video in a Mahindra Thar and hence there couldn’t have been a better person to explain this. The final verdict is while it’s ok shift to neutral, it’s always safer to shift to park mode for long stops as it is better at preventing roll back on gradients. Do also note that, leaving in drive mode does in fact increase transmission temperature.
