โ Lower back pain during squats? Your pelvis might be in the wrong position! Many people unconsciously tilt their pelvis too far forward when squatting, which puts excessive pressure on the lower back. Over time, this can lead to discomfort or even injury. โ The correct approach is to keep the pelvis in a neutral position, meaning the spine remains naturally aligned instead of excessively tilting forward or backward. This allows the force to be effectively transferred to the glutes and legs, making squats safer and more powerful! #quads #gluteworkout #gym

Back pain with back squats is common BUT that doesnโt mean you have to stop lifting. ๐ฃThatโs the focus this week. Back squats are a strength building staple, but howโs your form? Can you see the difference between these two movements? โ Toes pointed slight outwards allows me to keep my back up straighter and push my knees over the toes, keeping my legs strong on the push back up โ Toe pointing forwards means Iโm leaning forward more and not bracing my knees outwards on that push back up so my knees start to cave inwards, making me feel less stable and โweakerโ Tips: solid based shoes help here no end! If you donโt have any, go barefoot. Squishy running shoes will be unstable and likely cause that knee cave too. Avoid the Hip Tilt ๐ in Your Squats! Whether youโre doing a back squat or any other squat variation, preventing your hips from tilting back at the bottom is crucial for your lumbar and glutes muscles. Hereโs how to fix it: 1๏ธโฃ Big Chest & Brace: Engage your core and keep your chest up as you descend. 2๏ธโฃ Wide Stance: Find a comfortable, wide stance for better stability. 3๏ธโฃ Knees Out: Actively push your knees out for thw whole way until to the bottom of the squat and then up. This helps maintain a neutral spine and strong position throughout the movement. ๐ Donโt let your lower back and glutes relaxโstay ENGAGED for a powerful and safe squat movement. ๐ค Share this tip with friends working on their squat form. . . . . . #SquatTips #BackSquat #CrossFit #CrossFitTraining #Weightlifingt

Back Squat Series: Introduction The back squat is a compound exercise, combining hip and knee extension, carried out by the quads, glutes, and adductors. Since both the knees and hips are extending in a squat, your hamstrings wonโt receive much of a hypertrophy stimulus (because it doesnโt lengthen much). Squatting has a reasonably high potential for progressive overload, so you can expect to make steady strength gains for an extended period of time when beginning your fitness journey ย Barbell squatting can look very different between individuals. Ankle and hip mobility, along with relative femur length will greatly influence your squatting mechanics and how it looks; thereโs no one-size-fits-all squatting form! I will highlight general recommendations based on different body types, and how to modify your squat to shift the focus on glutes or quads. ย While I typically go over advanced variations in these sub-series, I will keep the focus primarily on the technicalities of back squatting, since the often-overlooked finer details of even learning how to safely fail a squat attempt can greatly impact your ability to progress over time. ย From a coaching perspective, I like programming squats with a bit higher frequency (typically 2 times a week) but with lower effort to allow for more volume accumulation with very good form.

Most people are squatting in a way thatโs wrecking their hips and lower backsโฆ and they donโt even know it. A deep back squat with a straight spine and feet forced straight isnโt functionalโฆ itโs a shortcut to compression, tight hips, and long-term pain. The bottom of a squat is a resting positionโฆ you should be able to chill there, breathe, relax. Not load a bar and drive weight out of it. When you restโฆ toes outโฆ knees outโฆ back roundsโฆ thatโs natural. When you loadโฆ toes slightly inโฆ heels outโฆ hips backโฆ thatโs functional. Big difference. Your body will never cut, turn, sprint, or jump from that deep โass to grassโ position. So why train there under load? Iโve put stupid weight on my back in the pastโฆ it did nothing for me except hurt me. Keep it simpleโฆ move like a humanโฆ not a gym robot. Back squatโฆ yay or nay? Backs Squats = Big Gains... but they can be very humbling. This highly technical, compound lift has many different elements and can take years to master. Many lifters have injured themselves doing this exercise with poor form, so work on technique first before going heavy. Ask for help if you need it.
