Building a home bakery kitchen part 1

Day 2 of my 5 kitchens… and this one might be everyone’s favorite 😏 (but my favorite is actually kitchen #3, coming up tomorrow). We call this one the bakery — but what makes it even better? This used to be a literal utility closet. Like… not cute. Not aesthetic. Not giving sourdough dreams 😂 But being married to a general contractor has its perks, and now it’s this cozy little baking space that’s just a few steps from my main kitchen — and completely set up for what I love most. This is where all the good stuff happens: Fresh sourdough 🍞 Homemade cookies 🍪 Sweet treats, test recipes, all of it It’s got all my ingredients, tons of storage, plenty of counter space, a little sink, my coffee station (obviously ☕️), and all my favorite cookbooks. And honestly? I love that I can make a full-on mess in here… and just close the door 😌 Now the two things people always ask: “Is it hot with double ovens?” Nope. Not even a little. They’re vented through the cabinets and the room is fully air conditioned — it’s actually usually cold in here, even when I’m baking all day. “Why a second kitchen?” Because one oven was NOT cutting it for our family. Now I have three… and I use every single one 🙃 Only downside? No fridge or dishwasher in here — but the main kitchen is literally 5 feet away, so it works. One day I’ll convince my husband to swap this for a Dutch door… but for now he’s officially retired from my project list 😂
