5 things I’d do in 2026 if I wanted to feel my best… 1. Move Daily A daily step count is perfect for this. Make it simple, make it easy and make it non negotiable. 2. Drink 2 litres of water a day Staying hydrated means you will function better in every area of life. So don’t leave it to chance. Make it a daily habit. 3. Prioritise protein at every meal Make protein the centrepiece of every meal, anything else is an accompaniment. 4. Protect your sleep. Sleep is vital, so value it and protect it. It is today’s investment for tomorrow. 5. Do something that scares you We grow when we step out of our comfort zone. We discover who we are and what we are capable of. Staying “safe” is depriving you of your potential. Whether you make New Year’s resolutions or not, it’s never a bad thing to start prioritising your health. These 5 simple and sustainable behaviours will help get you there. Save this post and let me know if there is anything you’d add. #newyear #resolutions #habits #behaviours #health

Sometimes what looks like “bad behaviour” is really just confusion. If your child was allowed to do something one day, and is suddenly told no the next, it can feel unpredictable and unfair to them. That’s when a tantrum or power struggle kicks in, not because they’re trying to be difficult, but because they’re struggling to make sense of the boundary. 🛑 Before the battle begins, ask yourself: ✨ “Has this boundary been clear and consistent?” And also: ✨ “Is this actually a boundary… or is it something flexible?” For example, if your child usually eats dinner at the breakfast bar or the table, but today you tell them they have to sit at the table, and they push back… pause. Ask yourself: “Why does it have to be the table today if they usually get to choose?” Is it worth entering a power struggle over something that’s normally flexible? If there’s a good reason, explain it simply: 💬 “I know you usually get to choose where you sit. But today there are four of us and there’s not enough space at the breakfast bar.” That clarity, and a little bit of predictability, can go a long way in avoiding unnecessary battles. As a final reminder ➡️ Not every moment has to turn into a fight. Sometimes, a small pause and a quick rethink is all it takes. ✨ Get my FREE guide for things to do and what to avoid for common toddler behaviours. 👉Please don't act like you're shocked at this.. . ❎ Time out, Missing playing and sitting doing nothing, Sitting in silence, Missing art, Are NOT consequences that are going to change behaviour, and therefore, a waste of time! . 🤎Children need consequences that are meaningful, Make them think, Have an impact and change behaviour, Age appropriate, Timely (that day!) How often do we punish a child for a behaviour the next day and they have NO idea what it is for? Cause them to act on their behaviour, Make them realise that they have behaviour choices, Let them see that they can make mistakes but they have to change from them, Show them that feelings are OK but we need to make good behaviour choices. . 🧠 As always, here's the brain science behind what we should do instead. For children to learn from their behaviour and change their behaviour they need to think. They need to engage their prefrontal cortex (thinking brain) and remove any Amygdala thinking (emotions). To do this we need to get them to think, do an activity, reflect and concentrate. . 📖 We use the Kids Behaviour Activity Book as a consequence because it gets them to think, reflect and learn. There is NO point setting a consequence unless the child learns somehing and their behaviour changes. Comment BOOK for a consequence that has changed behaviour in schools, Residential Children's Homes, Foster Care and private Childcare Businesses. There’s always a reason we act or respond the way we do. Even if it doesn’t make sense in the moment. Even if it feels like “too much” or “not enough.” Even if you’re not sure where it’s coming from. That shutdown? That outburst? That need to please everyone or pull away completely? It didn’t just appear out of nowhere. It was learned. It was protective. It made sense at some point, even if it doesn’t now. You’re responding in a way that once kept you safe. With awareness and the right support you can change those patterns if you want to. Therapy can help you find the answers and help you create new patterns 🧡 Mae ‘na bob amser reswm pam ‘da ni’n ymddwyn neu’n ymateb fel yda ni. Hyd yn oed os nad yw’n gwneud synnwyr ar y pryd. Hyd yn oed os yw’n teimlo fel “gormod” neu “ddim digon.” Hyd yn oed os nad ydych chi’n siŵr o ble mae’n dod. Y cau i lawr? Y ffrwydrad? Yr angen i blesio pawb neu dynnu’n ôl yn llwyr? Nid ymddangosodd o unman. Fe’i dysgwyd. Roedd yn amddiffynnol. Roedd yn gwneud synnwyr ar ryw adeg, hyd yn oed os nad yw rwan. ‘Da chi’n ymateb mewn ffordd a oedd unwaith yn eich cadw’n ddiogel. Gyda ymwybyddiaeth a’r gefnogaeth gywir gallwch chi newid y patrymau hynny os ydych chi eisiau. 128,947

You don’t need to do a pseudoscience diet or go full carnivore to get the results you’re after—in fact, that’s just a load of shit. 🫠 I get it, though—some of you turn to these diets because they seem to solve a pain point. You see changes on the scales 📉, but here’s the truth: it’s the wrong kind of change. 🚫 Let’s break it down. 🧠 Carbs don’t just fuel your body—they also hold water. 💧 For every gram of carbs you eat, your body holds about 3 grams of water. I eat ~400g of carbs on average, so technically around 1.2 kg of water weight from those carbs. So, when you cut carbs, the scale drops dramatically. ⬇️ But here’s the kicker: it’s just water weight, a small amount of fat, and probably some muscle, too, which isn’t ideal. Fat loss doesn’t happen because you cut carbs. 🥖🍚 It happens when you’re in a consistent calorie deficit over time. That’s why slashing carbs or doing extreme diets isn’t the answer—it’s just a band-aid fix that leaves you fearing food. 🍽️ The real issue? A lack of understanding about how carbs impact the scales is why so many people end up with a terrible relationship with both carbs and their bodies. 💔 Carbs aren’t the enemy. 🚀 You can fuel your body, include carbs in your diet 🍞🍝🍓, and still lose fat—without panicking every time you step on the scales. ⚖️ If you’re over the carb confusion and ready to ditch the pseudoscience, comment CARB below and I’ll send you a guide. 👇 The guide? It’s all about timing your carbs around your workouts—no BS, no extreme rules, just simple strategies to help fuel your body for better performance and sustainable fat loss. TSD can show you how to achieve your goals without ditching your favourite foods. ✨💪 #carbs #carbohydrate #behaviours #carnivore #meatdiet #fatloss #caloriedeficit #weightloss #waterweight

You don’t need more hacks or motivation… You need habits that match the man you want to be 🫵🏾 If you feel unconfident, scattered, or disappointed in yourself, it’s rarely because you’re incapable. It’s because your habits are misaligned. These are habits that rebuild self-respect. 1. lift heavy. Not for ego — for discipline. You learn to stay calm under pressure. 2. don’t drink alcohol every single weekend. You choose clarity over numbing and face your life head on. 3. don’t take yourself too seriously. You hold standards without letting your ego run the show. 4. have a morning routine. Not perfect. Just consistent. You start the day with intention. 5. practice gratitude daily. Not as a cliché — but to keep perspective and humility. 6. take responsibility when you mess up. No excuses. No blame. Ownership builds self-trust. 7. ask for help when needed. Strength isn’t doing everything alone. 8. have a mentor. Someone who challenges you and raises your standards. 9. eat like your body is a temple. Because your body is the foundation of your energy and confidence. 10. don’t wait for respect to live properly. You act with discipline first — and let respect follow. None of this is flashy. But together, it builds something real: self-respect. If you’re a man who knows you should be doing better — and you’re ready to live like it — Follow me, @gareth.shan.
