I just experienced one of those special little places that instantly stays with you 🤍 The kind that feels like a secret… but shouldn’t be one for long. Warique — a Peruvian restaurant in Belleville, NJ — has been getting buzz as one of NJ’s best new restaurants of 2025, and now I completely understand why. Warique means “hole in the wall with delicious food,” and that description couldn’t be more perfect. Owned and operated by the incredibly talented Chef Roberto Carnero , whose background includes training and working in top NYC & NJ kitchens, this place feels like walking straight into someone’s home. The space is small, cozy, and warm, with an open kitchen, Latin music setting the vibe, and an immediate sense of comfort. We sat at the chef’s counter, watching Chef Roberto and his team cook with a quiet confidence and deep respect for the food. Every beautiful dish placed in front of us came with a story — about tradition, flavors, and the origins behind each recipe. It’s no surprise their motto is: “Come as a guest, leave as family.” That’s exactly how it felt. It’s hard to fully put into words how special this experience was… so I’ll just say this: go and see for yourself. The menu is small but mighty and features the famous Chicken Savoy, Shrimp Beeps, + Pork Francaise.
