A lot of people, especially beginners, might not think much about what yarn they choose. People who buy crocheted items probably don’t also think or know much about different yarns. The truth is, the yarn you pick can have major impacts on your project and wellbeing. In this video, the thinner yarn on the left is Super Saver and on the right is Bernat Blanket. These are obviously two very different yarns, Super Saver is a 4 weight yarn, Bernat Blanket is a 6 weight yarn. You might think the difference comes down to the materials used. After all, super saver is 96% acrylic while Bernat Blanket is 100% polyester. In reality, the reason is actually much simpler… I am a lazy, small-weight-yarn hater so any yarn under a 6 weight is toxic to me and my wellbeing. I’ve been wanting to try this Extra Thick Bernat Blanket yarn since I first saw it in stores a few months ago, so I finally got myself a giant hook and tried it out! . As you can probably tell from the video, it’s definitely a hand workout 😅but since the yarn is so big it works up really fast! . I’m using a 25mm crochet hook with alternating rows of back loop HDC and back loop HD slip stitch (also called YO slip stitch) .
