the most precious books in my bookshelf are the ones brimming with my thoughts and feelings 🤍 i have even started to write dates of when i’m annotating the book and why! just a few days ago, i was listening to an audiobook while gardening, and the scene i was listening to felt so fitting and made me smile as i was planting my seeds. so i started annotating the physical copy and added a little entry to preserve this precious memory 📖✨ if you annotate, what do you often annotate in your books? ✍🏼 . #annotatedbooks #annotations #books #bookstagram

The urge to find someone who goes through my annotations as if they're sacred ✨ People around me barely gets it that why and what do I annotate. So I always had the urge to see if someone understands my emotions behind annotating books and hold my annotated books with care and love 💌 𝒴𝒶𝓈𝓂𝒾𝓃ℯ ✧ ______ Tags: #bookstagram #bookannotations #booksbooksbooks #bookannotations #annotations #annotatedbooks #bookannotating #fallbookstagram #fyp #coffeeandseasons #cozyseason #autumncolors🍁

How I Annotate My Book!! [A GUIDE<3] One of the most common questions I get on this account is my annotating process. How I developed it? What I write? Supplies etc. So I decided to finally compile a little guide. Let me know if this helps 🤗 [Tabbing:] 🗂️ I like to generally use 6 diff colours to tab. If I go above six it becomes hard to keep track and makes things tedious! 🗂️ I have a “tab key” put in the beginning of the book for future reference. 🗂️ I decide on themes I tab as I go— usually designating certain concept or patterns that comes up again and again within the story. 🗂️ Examples include: motifs, character development, certain emotions, relationships, beautifully written passages etc (the list goes on! You can literally tab whatever comes up a bunch) [Underlining/Highlighting/Emphasis of Text] ✍️ I underline passages or lines of text that are essential to the ‘literary’ aspect of the book, this could be: use of a symbol, an extended metaphor, juxtaposition etc ✍️ I highlight passages or lines of text that evoke me to feel (Don’t be excessive. Highlight the parts that stand out!) ✍️ circle/square/bracket (basically emphasize) important diction, keywords, or phrases related to the theme you had tabbed that passage to! [Writing!!!] 🖍️Write down: thoughts, wonders, predictions, feelings, essential details, connections, questions, analysis!! 🖍️ Where? If it’s especially long use a sticky, otherwise, the margins, the spaces, and in between lines. Literally anywhere. 🖍️if you’re afraid to damage your book sticky notes are very helpful:) and there are clear/neutral coloured sticky notes that are quite lovely 😊 🖍️use: arrows, bullet points, numbering, icons, or whatever that may clarify your annotations. 🖍️Reminder: I only write in annotations after finishing a chapter in the parts where I’ve tabbed, this keeps my reading flowing :) [Supplies] 📂I usually use gel black pens in 0.3 (I like the thinner feel and they often don’t leak through the page) 📂I use the grey highlighters from muji religiously 📂Stickies and tabs are all from Amazon, they come in a variety of colours so have your pick:)! Love, Bea

Why don't I annotate?📑 ✨️I'm lazy and it feels like work. I just want to lie down and read page after page. If a line hits me, I take a picture of it or I put a little sticky tab within the page. ✨️I tried annotating back in 2022 but then it felt like I was just doing it because most bookstagrammers on my feed were doing the same. Honestly, I love looking at how clean my books look. ✨️While I am someone who loves to create doodles and write with cute and pretty handwriting, I'm never happy about them. I always regret how they turn out because it looks messy in my eyes. ✨️I want to be able to share my books (to close friends and family) and pass it down to my children/nephews/nieces and I don't want to influence them with my opinion or which part of the book I gave extra attention too. ✨️I love seeing everyone's annotations — always so pretty!! It's just not for me and that's okay because I'm not going to have FOMO about that 🤍😂 #bookstagram #annotatingbooks #annotating #bookstagrammersdaily #readersofinstagram

the best combo🫶🏼 thank you to @achieversmust for sending a bookmate and tabs! it’s such a smart idea for making it easier to bring annotation supplies around💘 i just finished just for the summer and it was such a good read!!! i loved it!! 🧸 what’s your favourite read of the summer so far?? lots of love, kris 💌

This is how I start my annotating🤭 Before I start marking a book up I do these steps first: ✨ I do a smidge of research on what the themes are in the book so I can decide my tab categories ✨Start assigning colors of tabs with the vibe of the category lol ✨ I post it my tabs on the first title page and start labeling them by category (so I don’t forget my categories to colors) ✨I’ve toned down my amount of categories though, the tabs got CRAZY LOL I usually do 3 only now!! Prior to this though, I buy highlighters and pens that don’t bleed through, SUPER IMPORTANT! I love tabbing because I personally feel like I’m soaking in all the content and not just blowing through a book without getting to absorb all of it🥹👉🏽👈🏽 hope this helps yall who feel like you don’t know where to start! • • • • • #book #booktok #booksbooksbooks #bookreader #bookstagrammer #capcut #booklover #booklovers #read #tbr #bookstagram #bookreview #bookish #reel

☁️ • i stopped annotating my books because… • i don’t like to draw on my books anymore. i used to write so many stuff on the pages. and i actually love reading them after a while. but last few months i stopped doing it. because i sometimes consider let my friends borrow my books. and i don’t want them to read my annotations 🫣. maybe i’ll start doing it again, who knows 🫠. • i never read on a straight surface! i don’t read books on table or on my lap so i don’t have the right position to even highlight the sentences. so i stopped even highlighting when my lines started to look so messy when i read on my reading chair or in my bed. • i only take photos of the pages now. my camera roll is like a jungle 🫢. i started doing this when i didn’t have a pen or highlighter with me. i have my phone with me all the time so no highlighter, no problem. i have a lot of photos of book pages in my camera roll. 💭 • do you annotate books? #smallcreators #bookstagrammers #bookstagramtürkiye #bookannotation #explorepage
