Basic Homemade Bread 🍞 🍞 Dough Ingredients: 1. 450g (3 cups) bread flour 2. 8g (2 teaspoons) instant yeast 3. 6g (1 teaspoon) fine sea salt 4. 35g (2,5 tablespoons) granulated sugar 5. 250g (1 cup) whole milk 6. 1 whole egg (50-54g) 7. 42g (3 tablespoons) unsalted butter 🍞 Instructions: 1. Knead the dough by mixing the dried ingredients together first. Then add egg, start kneading. Pour milk slowly while kneading. When the ingredients have come together, add butter spoon by spoon and keep kneading until the dough is smooth, nothing sticks to your hands or the mixing bowl. 2. Proof the dough for 1 hour or more until rises at least double in size. 3. Punch and knead for a couple of minutes to release air bubbles. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough into a large rectangle. Then tightly roll it into a tube that fits in your loaf pan. I use 9”x5” pan. 4. Proof again for 60 minutes or more until the volume has increased at least double in size. 5. Brush egg wash and bake at 350F ~ 180C for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. 🍞 ~ B R E A D ~ T I N ~ L O A F ~ 🍞 I’ll add my bread tin to my stories- if you’re not here for the time of posting, pop me a message and I’ll send you a link! It’s a 1lb bread tin. Light, fluffy, and perfect for slicing — no compromise. Ingredients- 330ml warm water 2 tbsp olive oil 1 x 7g fast-action yeast Pinch of sugar 425g strong bread flour (no subs!) 8g fine salt Extra flour for shaping Method- Mix warm water, oil, yeast & sugar. Stir. Let sit 5 mins until foamy. Add flour, mix halfway, then add salt. Combine fully. Rest dough 30 mins, covered. Stretch & fold dough into centre with wet hands. Cover, rest 30 mins. Repeat fold. Then rise 1 hour until dough puffs up. Oil & lightly flour a loaf tin. Turn out dough, shape into a rough log, and place in tin. Proof 30–60 mins until dough has risen close to the rim of the tin. Sprinkle lightly with flour. Bake at 200°C fan for ~30 minutes until golden, risen, and sounds hollow underneath. Cool slightly before slicing for the perfect soft sandwich loaf. 💡 Use proper bread flour. Use sachet yeast. Don’t rush the rise — time = softness. Serve warm with butter or slice for sandwiches. Add your yeast and mix together all wet ingredients in a bowl. Whisk the egg before combining. Add the bread flour gradually and mix until a soft dough forms. Rest the dough (covered) for about 15 minutes. Then continue kneading until the gluten has started to develop and the dough comes together. Add salt and knead for 2-3 more minutes till the dough passes a light windowpane test. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour. Gently shape into a loaf. Place into a buttered 9x5 loaf pan. Cover and let rise until puffy but still slightly springy when pressed, about 20-30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350F. Whisk the egg wash ingredients together and brush lightly over the loaf. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then remove and cool completely before slicing for best structure!! happy bread baking!!
