Bunching is a normal occurrence with locs. It happens in the early stages and it simply means that your locking process has began!. Even though #bunching is normal, they can be abnormally excessive depending on how you care for your locs. In that case, they shouldn’t be left uncorrected. How your locs will turn out after passing an excessive #bunchingstage will depend on whether or not you are staying CONSISTENT with a loctician that actually CARES for your locs, (not the ones that only does a YouTube-learnt reties for you each time), or whether you are doing the right thing if you are self maintaining. During my reties, I always ensure that I examine my clients’ locs to quickly correct any issues and set the locs on the right path. This corrections are typically quick and can easily be incorporated into retie appointments. This is where clients that stay consistent do have an edge. They rarely have big loc issues, and they usually end up having the EVEN locs that are visibly GROWING and we all end up crushing on their locs😍. Here is what happens when bunches remain unresolved: - They HIDE your growth - You have IRREGULAR and uneven locs - You end up with BIG FAT ENDS - You end up paying A LOT if you eventually choose to fix your #locissues. Tiny loc repairs are not cheap! - You hate your locs and you eventually end your loc journey 😢 Do you want to see a tutorial on how to fix bunching? The tutorial is already up, check out the next post to this. Remember to share your experience with loc bunching in comments. Ps: This information applies to microlocs that are maintained by interlocking.

💙Bunching is caused by uncorrected slippage and excess water on hair that isn't fully locked. Typically, it happens in looser textures. This can happen naturally. Causing your hair to clump/curl up into your loc. 💛If you catch it in the beginning stage of your journey, you can fix them more easily. You can stretch them out and palm roll. If they bunch at the end of your open locs, you can comb them out to maintain open ends. 💙Bunching is common, and it can be fixable. Honestly, bunching is not an issue depending on your choice of maintenance. If you maintain with palm roll, bunching can add character, and you might be okay with it. If you interlock, bunching can be a problem due to you bringing it through the roots. So it's definitely something to correct. Or if it's bothering you esthetically. 💛You can try to prevent bunching by keeping up with your maintenance schedule. Also, if you interloc to not leave too much ends out, and make sure you braid and band. 💙If you do not correct bunching at the beginning of discovering them palm rolling with not work. Once bunching is set, you would have to crochet them to smooth it out. 💛So if you are experiencing bunching and it's not a damaging factor, do you fix them or rock them? I have to be completely transparent!!! My client has been with me since the very beginning….however, excessive bunching will turn your traditional locs into butterfly locs if you don’t stay on top of your maintenance. The very first 6m-1yr is crucial for your loc growth & maturity!! If you look at the base of the locs for about the first 6in you will see nice uniform locs as my client has stayed in routine for loc maintenance these last 4-5months vs the ends where she’d skipped loc maintenance for months at a time! However…her butterfly locs are still beautiful 🦋 Have you experienced excessive bunching (loc bulbs 💡) in your locs? #locbunching #locbulbs #locrepair #bunching #locs #locjourney #locstylesforwomen #locqueen #naturallocs #naturalhair

#InstantLocs aka insta locs : The act of being able to loc your hair instantly without waiting. Your locs will still experience #budding #bunching swelling and shrinking. You can wash whenever and don’t have many restrictions. Maintenance is preference based. I tell my clients to embrace the frizz and try to go as long as they can to create strong roots, just make sure to keep your crown hydrated and #locsturized. Over manipulation and dryness are usually the main causes for breakage. Maintenance services are every 6-12 weeks 😌

Yep so im not too sure but i’m pretty sure some budding and bunching has been happening here 👀😃 I’m loving it !!!! #modelesquenic #budding #bunching #locs #locjourney #3monthslocd #locd

What does bunching look like? Loc bunching is when you get a ball like size knot on the ends. This occurs when too much hair is left out and the hair doesn't know how to form into a cylinder shape. It is common but with regular maintenance it can be preventable. This normally occurs in the beginning stages. This has to be fixed or it will cause the reties to be uncomfortable. Not to mention the tools used for reties may not fit. To prevent or minimize bunching, you can try: Going to maintenance appointments on time Braiding and banding your hair when shampooing Not leaving too many curly ends out Avoid getting your hair wet during the beginning phase #loctician #locs #loclove #locjourney #smalllocs #locphases #locappreciation #locmaintenance #loccommunity #locrefresh #locretie #bunching
